Question about Sherwood Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Have a Sherwood S-277OR CP Audio/ Video Receiver. The Graphic Equalizer/Spectrum Analyzer display will not light-up.

The past 2 weeks I have taped the side of the amplifier to get the GE/SPA to light-up and now it won't light -up at all. Seems like a loose connection.

SOURCE: I have a Yamaha HTR-5890 receiver and I am trying

must have the tape monitor to work the regular tape loop does not physically go back into the receivers processor.

only other solution is if the receiver has PRE out and ins use the PRE out to the EQ then back into the PRE in.

if you have the OUT but no in then the solution would be to go out of the EQ and into an external amp.

In my experience "young adults" like using EQ's to boast bass output.

If that's your goal a POWERED subwoofer is what you need.(check out polk audio direct on ebay)

Your unit is a 7.1 surround receiver the reason that it doesn't have the capability for an EQ is that it messes up the surround sound processor.

If the sound is not what you are looking for the issue more than likely is with the speakers. post a messege with what you want to achieve and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

Can I connect an external Technics SH-8036 Stereo Graphic Equalizer to my Technics SA-500 receiver?

You can but you will need to use one of the tape loops to do so. That means you will also have to use the tpae monitor switch of the front panel. Just get 2 sets of interconnects and run one from the tape out to the input of the equalizer and the other from the tape in to the out put of the equalizer.

I have a Sherwood audio/video stereo receiver S-277OR CP. Why would it work but not put any sound out?

Check speaker selection switch. If set properly then perhaps the amplifiers are blown - check for fuses that may be open.

Is the Phono output on the RX4109 considered a preamp output in to a Power Amp?

The phono connection is an INPUT and it is a low impedance circuit. It is easily overdriven because the signal that goes into it is very small. You plug a record player into it. Any pre-amp connections on an audio device are in place after equalizer controls. There are no pre-amp connections on the Sherwood.

Sherwood 460 equalizer hook up

Connect the EQ to the Sherwood as if it were a tape deck: EQ's outs connect to receiver's tape ins (play) and EQ's ins connect to receiver's tape outs (record).
Then you hook the tape deck up to the tape ins and outs on the EQ: Tape deck outs connect to EQ's tape ins (play) and tape deck ins connect to EQ's tape outs (record).
This will put the EQ in your receiver's tape loop.
The CD player should be connected to the receiver though the CD in's and out's (or if your Sherwood doesn't have a CD in/out, then use AUX or TAPE2).
To hear the EQed signal with all receiver sources (like the CD player) you'll need to engage the 'Tape Monitor' button or switch which will route the tape loop to the speakers.
