There is no light bulb in the switch of the machine. It is simply light shining through the red button that gives it that effect/illusion. If you are able to turn on your machine without any problems it is working as it should. If the power switch is not engaging and the vac is not turning on at all, that's a different issue. In that case call the Dyson Helpline so that they can refer you to an authorized dealer in your area who will fix the switch for you.

SOURCE: A Dyson dc 17 Animal and the wand/hose has lost suction

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine, switch it on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its good here, then you know that the wand handle is blocked.

For the full diagnostics, check out the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com or call our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

Kind regards
Darran

SOURCE: suction only coming through the wand when its replaced its not switching back to the upright. I have a dyson DC28 animal

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC28 doesn't seem to be working correctly. It sounds as though the change-over valve may be jammed - this diverts the suction to the hose when you remove the wand, and back to the cleaner head when you replace the wand on your machine.

You may find a blockage is jamming the valve - you can check for this using our online Support guide:

If you can't find any obstructions, please get in touch with us directly as we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance. If you email us at askdysonUS@dyson.com, we'll be in touch as soon as possible.

    Best wishes,

Why is my vacuum DC 17 Animal shut off when I switch brush to floor mode?

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. The brushbar on/off switch shuts the brushbar off for cleaning hard floors - however, the suction motor should continue to run. If the machine shuts off completely when you press the brushbar on/off switch, we'll need to arrange to have the cleaner serviced. To discuss this with one of our experts, please call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email askdysonUS@dyson.com.

    Kind regards,

Dyson blueprint beater bar won't turn

The Dyson DC 17 has a rug / floor switch on the head of the vacuum. Please check to make sure the switch is in the Rug position. If the brush roller still does not turn then you have broken the belt and need the following part.
