I am planning to write a complaint to the CEO of this company in an attempt to have the product repaired or replaced without cost. I need some support from each of you that have the same issue as it seems to be a product/component defect and not the use. I feel the company should own up to its default in the quality of the component. If you share same feelings leave a comment, your name and preferably an email address so they know it is a genuine issue.

These people also make the Emerson which also has a HUGE problem with the E 4 54037380 recording error. I am beginning to think we don't go to the CEO but rather the Attorney General's office of each state that these products are sold in.

I have exactly the same problem.

I am also having the exact same errors and issues with my DVD recorder! I don't have a Funai, instead I have the Magnavox DVD Recorder/VCR Model MWR 20V6 which based on my internet search is also made by Funai! I assume they are selling this defective unit throughout all their brands and product lines! This is in my opinion a very deceptive business practice and should not be tolerated!

It's interesting to learn that Funai also produces the Emerson line because I also have an Emerson DVD Recorder Model EWR10D4 and it is just as useless- I have wasted too many hours & too much money trying to get it to record on anything! I am outraged at Funai's business practice of deceiving its customers so you can sign me up... I'll fight along side you with a formal complaint!

I have the SV2000 and also got the e4 error. It turns out I tried to program it to record over 3 hours in LP mode. Unfortunately LP mode is only good for 3 hours max. This caused my error during the recording.

I have the wv20v6 and its doing the exact same thing as all the reviews I have read. This is not a problem from use, its a defect in the machine and I too think the company should help the people fix it. The company should be made to recall or re-imburse people that have this problem. Please add my complaint to the list. Byron Collier in Ninety Six, South Carolina

Just got off phone with support and was told issue was because program being blocked by network from recording. Made sense as I suddenly haven't been able to record football games.

  • Anonymous Aug 02, 2012

That cannot be the problem because the disc never loads.. can't even get to the RECORD function... I put the disc into the machine and it starts loading... gets about 99% then throws up the error message....

Which brand of DVD-R disc did you use? What error did you get? What is your video source? Most TVs don't give video output. The tuner on the WV20V6 is an NTSC (analog) tuner. Thus you need to use a set-top box (OTA digital-to-analog converter, cable or satellite box) with the recording "channel" set to video input 1 for most channels or analog cable input to the recorder.
Verbatim DVD-R 8x, Maxell DVD-R 8X/16X and JVC DVD-R 2X have been tested and proven to work by the manufacturer. A number of DVD+R and DVD+RW or DVD-RW have been tested as well.
I've found that you have to test each batch of DVDs. Different manufacturing plants can lead to bad discs from a previously good brand.
The manual for the WV20V6 is available from Funai Corp (who manufacture the recorder for SV2000). The direct link is http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/WV20V6.pdf . See page 25 of the PDF for tested optical discs. No CD-Rs will work.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your situation for additional support.

Cosmicson. You can download it directly from the official Funai support website using the hotlink provided below.

SV2000 User Manual for model WV10V6 (PDF 9.19mb) <--- click to begin immediate download

SV2000 User Manual for model WV20V6 (PDF 9.64mb) <--- click to begin immediate download

SV2000 Service Manual for model WV205 (PDF 2.15mb)
please email me for this service manual. Be aware this older model is a DVD player only not a recorder or combo unit!

Was this information valuable to you? If so, please take a moment to let me know either thru email or by simply rating this solution.

So you're aware, only a vote of "Fixya" will bump a member's rating up one point. Contrary to what you'd expect anything less (such as a vote of "helpful") will actually pull it in the negative direction!

Acknowledgement of this solution's accuracy and value will directly give it the greatest possible visibility to help many others who are seeking this same information.

It'll further provide those of us who make these contributions with the necessary feedback to be confident the time and effort required making them is worthwhile rather than an utter waste of time. Thanks for your greatly appreciated time and consideration!

I AM TRYING TO OBTAIN A USERS MANUAL. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE DVD RECORDERVCR COMBO. IT WAS SV2000 AND THR MODEL NUMBER IS WV20V6. I WAS INFORMED THAT I COULD GO ONLINE AND DOWNLOAD THE NECESSARY...

Not a problem:

http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/funai/wv20v6.html

You'll need to register but you only need to enter first name, email address and password. A fake email address will work fine if you're worried about spam.

Hope this helps,

FUNAI WV20V6 VCR-DVD

Arakawastore. As usual you'll need to register a username and password to logon with if you want to actually download the service manual. But you can see everything you want to know about it by clicking on the hotlink below without having to register beforehand.

If you're hoping to find it online for free all you'll do is waste vast amounts of time. If I had it in my PDF service library I'd gladly have provided you with it, just as I've done on numerous occasions before here on Fixya.

Not once has a single Fixya member ever bothered to acknowledge my having done so as you can tell by my huge 3 point ranking. Perhaps this best accounts for why we all still have to pay for them.
