SOURCE: SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: WDC WD3200BEVT-75ZCT2-(S1) WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to Continue

SMART failure error means your hard drive is dying and there is no way to make it working for a longer period of time.
Soon, your hard drive will fail permanently and won't give second chance to work and so prevents you to access any of your important data.

So, before disaster strikes, you're highly recommended to backup and replace your hard drive as soon as you can. Otherwise, you might be in big trouble.

Hope it helps!!

SOURCE: SMART Failure predicted on Hard

Remove the hard drive and put it into an enclosure. Plug it into another computer as a slave. Then you can copy your files on it.
If it shows up in 'my computer' as a drive letter(like E: drive) but you can't access it, you can recover data from hard drive with data recovery program. This data recovery is a professional data recovery program that can recover data after deeply scanning your hard drive to look for lost data due to drives crash, physical damage, system sabotage, virus attack etc. You can get the data recovery software from:
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/
After you recover your data, you can format it to check out whether it can be fixed.

Do as it suggests, if you can, backup your data. Purchase a new hdd, fit it, load windows, download all drivers from Dell and use a usb converter to copy files back from the faulty drive.

Do what it says and backup immediately.

  1. After everything is backed up, download and run Speedfan.
  2. then open "S.M.A.R.T" data for your drive and click "Perform an in-depth online analysis of this hard disk"

3. I will send the diagnostic data(it is safe as does not contain any private info) to a hddstatus.com webpage and open analysis result.
4. Paste the permalink from results page here. It is on the bottom of page and reads "this".

Then we could see what exactly is about to fail but most likely you will need a new drive(SSD prefered) or a new laptop. Depending on laptop specification replacing HDD with SSD drive could inject a new life in this rather old laptop.

DELL Studio 1737, last week my computer shut down and now all I have is a message that states the following....SMART Failure Predicted on hard disk 0: WDC WD3200BEVT-75ZCT2-(S1)......WARNING: Immediately...

It sounds like the failure message is saying your hard drive is about to lose sector 0. But if you press F1 it will let you continue your boot and then you can backup your computer.

You can just do the system backup to a set of DVD's as instructed by the dell restore disk creator program. I have done this for my mothers home pc and works pretty well. Then when the HD does finally fail you can replace it and reload your system with the newly made restore disks.

SMART is the system that monitors the health of a hard disk, in your case  it's close to complete failure. Follow immediately what that warning message says - copy all your data to some DVD's, replace the hd and reinstall.

ACER SMART failure

SMART means self monitoring and reporting tool, this is the option which performs certain test for the status of hard disk health, if its coming it means condition of your hard disk is not good, its better if you immediately back up your data and replace it, by the way you can also disable this warning through the bios, just disable the smart feature in hard disk

SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology.

If you want lots of details on what it is, and does, take a look at this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-Monitoring,_Analysis,_and_Reporting_Technology

It is highly unlikely that you will be able to fix this since it's a hardware problem on the hard drive. The drive may last for years or it may die tomorrow. At a minimum I would back up everything you care about on a regular basis.

If you found this information helpful I would appreciate it if you would rate this solution. I hate to beg, but over half of the solutions I've posted have no feedback. I'm not paid for this I'm just trying to help.
