SOURCE: My Hitachi leaf blower was smoking after short term use

The engine gets hot, and the smell is likely not anything to worry about.

Oil leak on poulan snow lower

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
  • Remove the hex bolts holding the plastic leaf blower housing in place with your hex wrench. You may wish to cut the cord with your scissors and loosen the bolt or screw securing the rope assembly with your hex wrench or screwdriver.
  • 2 Remove the spring assembly carefully. Do not remove the spring, only remove the assembly.
  • 3 Remove the old cord from the leaf blower pull cord assembly by gently pulling it away from the assembly with your hands. Notice the direction the pull cord is wound, as this becomes important in the next step.
  • 4 Wind the new pull cord in the same direction you removed it in Step 3. Make sure the inner end of the pull cord secures in the faster or slot provided on the pull cord assembly. This varies depending on the leaf blower manufacturer.
  • 5 Replace the pull cord pulley and place over the spring. This is the white plastic spool.
  • 6 Rotate the pull cord assembly two or three times in the same direction the cord pulls wearing safety goggles and work gloves. Reinsert the center screw by screwing it in place with your screwdriver; this holds the pulley assembly together
  • 7 Insert the leaf blowers cord end into the end of the handle opening. Secure the handle by tying a knot at the bottom of the new pull cord; this prevents the handle from being pulled off the pull cord while you start the leaf blower.
  • 8 Place the pull cord assembly back onto your leaf blower in its designated area and secure by refastening the four hex nuts with your hex wrench.
  • 9 Replace the housing cover of the leaf blower and refasten the hex nuts with your hex wrench. You removed the housing cover in Step 1.

Broken pull cord mac320v leaf blower

The pull string is in a housing underneath the fan. Remove the left (as you're holding the blower with the outlet facing away) housing. The blower fan is visible. Use a 1/2" light duty impact driver, it's a conventional clocking leftie loosie rightie tightie. Remove nut, thick flat washer, fan, and another thick flat washer. Three screws are holding the pull string housing. Remove the housing. Three more screws and thin flat washers, and the spool is in your hand. Reassemble in reverse order.

The pull cord is stuck, can't be pulled to start

This solution applies to the Sears model 358.797200, which also appears to the FL1500LE marketed under the Craftsman name, and may apply to other, similar, blowers. Go to the searspartsdirect.com site and enter the Sears model number. This blower may be prone to develop binding in the pull cord rewind spring compartment. (The binding may easily be misdiagnosed as a seized up engine.) The binding can be fixed by adding washers to increase the spacing. Open the rewind starter page on the sears site for an exploded view. I found that by placing 2 washers on each of the 5 screws (no. 7 on the diagram) which attach impeller housing (12) to the motor, I increased the spacing enough so the pull cord operated and retracted normally. The washers must go between the impeller housing and the motor. To complete the repair, you need to add a washer between the spacing flywheel (14) and the impeller(15) to keep the impeller from binding against the housing. The gasoline tank screws won't line up as well with the holes, but will fit. Install all 3 screws for the at first loosely, then tighten them down.

Cannot remove starter housing assembly on Sears Blower Vac

Take cover off were the belts are located. turn power button to off! see if the shaft can turn with a wrench. That should turn 180 degrees. If stuck you may need to forch it. Then try to pull cord.
Good luck

Power Source Problem

# Electric leaf blowers are lighter, quieter and vibrate less than gas units. An electric motor drives the fan, so there's no need to mix fuel or refill. Smaller yards are especially good candidates for electric blowers. There are two types: * Corded leaf blowers provide constant power as long as you have access to an electrical outlet. The attached cord limits mobility so this may not be the best choice for a lawn with lots of trees. Look for a cord retention system to prevent the cord from being accidentally unplugged during use. * Rechargeable/battery-operated leaf blowers are good alternatives for smaller areas or jobs. They work well on solid surfaces like driveways and garages. They're limited by their run time and the fact that they move less air than larger models. # Gas-powered leaf blowers use a 2-cycle engine, requiring mixing oil and gasoline. Mobility and work output are increased with gas blowers. They're louder and heavier than electric blowers.
