Phillips 50PF9431D/37: Perfect Picture, inuadible audio

I have a Phillips 50" Plasma TV (model # 50PF9431D/37). Since two days ago, I have been having problem with the audio quality of this TV but the TV still produces perfect pictures on the SD channels. The audio is either totally inaudible or really really low even when you raised the volume to the highest level - 100.

And moreover, I noticed that neither of the two HDMI ports on the TV is working, hence I am unable get any pictures on the HD channels....it only gives me a green screen.

Can anyone help me with these problems?
Thanks

The audio or sound IC (integrated Circuit) on the TV panel maybe bad and need to be replaced.
Also, the speakers of the TV may have a weak connection from inside the panel.
But my best bet is the first solution i gave. If u are not a qualified electronics technician then take it to a service centre.

Phillips 42PFP53320 42" Plasma TV. No picture,

Hello jporter...

welcome here in fixya..

That problem is one of the common problems of plasma TV (have sounds but no picture)..As a expert of flat panel for more than 5 years I already encounter that kind of problem many times..

Actually that problem is caused of either X,Y or Z sustain board or even both 3 boards are faulty..Because some models when the one of those boards have short circuit or bad there are possibility that other sustain board are affected..But most the problem like yours is "Y-SUSTAIN" board..

I can't find your model online please double check it it either Phillips 42PFP5332D/37 or 42PFP5532D/05

And for specific and easy way to find replacement please try to look at the part # of that board (it is usually printed on the sticker attach to the board itself..

Hope it helps and please don't forget to rate my answer..

Have a nice day!!!

regards,
Chester.

The Samsung LN40B540P8F I would rate a 9. Only God is 10.

All the DLP sets, you can throw out

All the Older Projection sets you can throw out

I would take the rest for scrap parts.

I hope this is helpful.

PHILLIPS PLASMA TV MODEL #42PF9431D/37 Heard

Hi, Usually any "Pops" are an Electrolytic Capacitor "blowing up" quite literally, or "Gassing" as it is called. This happens due to some sort of power problem. Capacitors hate AC Voltage and Current, and Heat and Over Voltage. All of which, I have no doubt it was exposed to before it went "Pop" This is only a symptom of a far greater problem, to come, no doubt, soon, the rest of the set will fail too. Please DO NOT USE. this set any more, you risk fire or explosion or both. If you MUST use it at least unplug at bed time. Theses days home repair except for the most rudimentary problem is not feasible, setting aside the safety aspect. In my professional opinion, I would recommend, that you get a "Quote" for repair from a Philips Authorised Service Agent This is very important, that you contact a Philips head office and ask for a referral. This way at least you can make a decision to repair or replace.

Remove the back from the set and look at the power board in the center of the TV. It will probably have one of more capacitors with the tops bulging out. Replace them with the same value part. Available from radio shack and almost any electronic suppliers.
