Question about OKI ML321 Matrix Printer
We have a constant red alarm light when we switch on the oki printer, it seems that the ribbon trys to run then makes a funny clicking noise and goes back to its original position on the far left, wherever you leave the ribbon to begin with.

Check/clean the carriage sensor. This part is under the head/ribbon holder assembly. You should also check the tensioner to the black guide/railings when the carriage assembly runs. This is the one with the gear.

A blinking alarm usually means an hardware error of some type, such as an obstruction on the printhead, or a bad motor or such.
When you have a blinking alarm light the other lights that are on will give you an error code that will tell you what the alarm means. You will need to look it up at Okidata.

We swapped out the printer for another one we had in the office that was working. The new printer also got the alarm light. From that we concluded that it was a bad serial card. We swapped the serial card from another printer, and the original printer started working perfectly. Now we just need to find out where we can purchase another serial card, as we have no more 'spares' around here.
