When sending a fax to 1 number the receiving fax crashes

This is probably an issue for the receiving fax. Try this:

1. Find a piece of paper and write fairly large:
Call me if you get this
Your name
Your phone number

2. Send this to a different fax machine at a different company and location. If it works, then attempt to send it to the same fax you initially attempted.
- If it works then your document may be too large and you will have to send it over a couple pages (or less at a time).
- If it doesn't work then there is a compatibility issue with either your or the receiving end fax machine. You will have to find an alternative fax number to a different model fax machine. Don't expect the company on the other end to just change out their fax machine but they may have another model at a different phone number.

Another alternative - you can attempt to scan your documents and send them by email but check with your and the receiving destination security departments.

If your machine can receive a fax transmission from one number, it will receive from all numbers.

If your machine can send to all but not to one particular number, please check that there is a fax machine there to receive it.

You can try to send manually and listen for beeps from the other fax -if one is present- then push the START button to initiate transmission.
If their machine is in working order, the transmission should start. (After the initial 'handshake' of course.)

Just a plain telephone cord, plug it in. Go into setup and setup your fax name and number that will appear on the fax your sending. Set the number of rings before answering. Place a test fax call to some fax machine.

1. Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-hpfaxme (1-888-473-2963).
2. When your fax is received by the HP Test Fax Service, we will generate a return fax to you within five minutes confirming that we received your fax. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with your fax machine.

If you do not receive a return fax within 5-7 minutes, there may be a problem with the setup of your fax machine. Consult the user manual that came with the product for proper setup and configuration.

Once you place your both fax machine on same line you will keep getting this issue. Fax machine is waiting for a fax ring signal that your other machine is sending. Shut down one machine when faxing or connect your alt fax machine to a different number this way you can send faxes when need to.

For most fax machines:

1. Choose the "Fax" option
2. Place paper in feeder tray
3. Dial phone number
4. Press the start/go button, usually green

1 Make sure the Fax Auto Answer light is on.
2 To set the number of telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes,
Receiving a fax with an answering machine
When a telephone ring is detected, the answering machine picks up the call.
• If the printer detects a fax, it receives the fax and disconnects the answering machine.
• If the printer does not detect a fax, the answering machine receives the call.
2 Set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does.
For example, if you set the answering machine to answer calls after three rings, set the printer to answer calls
after five rings.
3 To set the number of telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes.

Are you able to receive faxes from others from the same location, if not just ask her to consult her service provider and ask to get the no checked of yours why is it that you she is not able to send fax to you only as your fax machine is capable of sending and receiving fax from others it should be dsome issue with her service provider.
If it was your All-In-One printer thrn you should not have received faxes from any one, not a specific number.

Does the receiving or sending party have a DSL phone line?

turn off fax machine and unplug it, sometimes this will reset the modem. it may or may not work so far it has worked for me..i had to remember the old saying KISS = keep it simple stupid.

you can not use the phone simultaneously while sending or receiving a fax. You do not need a separate line. especially if you do not do a lot of faxing. You just can not do both at the same time. You can set your machine to automatically receive faxes when you are not present. The machine will detect the sending tones of the senders fax and automatically receive your fax. You may want to order a users manual from brother to help you set up your fax for your specific needs. Their number is 1-800-284-4357. Another option is you can order the distinctive ring option from your phone company. This will allow you to give out a seperate phone number for your fax while only having one line. The machine can be programed to distinguish the distinctive ring and automatically pick up with out you wondering if it is a fax or phone call. But again you can not talk and fax at the same time.
