Use a voltmeter (VOM) to find 12v wire always ON, this connects to the receivers YELLOW wire. Then use the VOM to find a 12v wire ON with Ignition, this will connect to the RED wire on your unit, Then use the OHM function on the VOM to find a suitable GROUND, this will connect to the BLACK wire on your unit. The ACC wire is for activating a power antenna.

Turn key off and removed. Power stays on radio ,heater.

Hello? It sems that the wiring is not done properly. Make sure that the radio wiring is done correctly. We have 3 wires that are very important when it comes to radio wiring. We have vcc,acc and ground. Vcc has to connect to battery direct, this helps keep radio memory on all the time. acc goes to acc and this switches radio on and off when you turn the key. Ground goes to earth. The wiring harness color code depends on different radio makes and car makes as well but a professional should help you with this.

Need wiring diagram

ok here is the basic setup. the yello and orange will be power wires. on is for battery constant and the other is for switched power to signal for the unit to turn on. the black is the ground wire. the other wires are for speakers as long as they have a match. example... white wire goes with whit wire with black line, purple to purple/blk ect. i saw a blue wire that was there but is probably remote as well as any wire that is blue/ white is a remote wire. if you dont care about having memory on the stereo for like am/fm station just hook both yello and orange together to power and black to groungd and your good to go.

What color wire from fuse panel to radio on 1989 Camaro

Base line radio,... Orange -hot all the time, Acc fuse ..-20amp. Yellow ,Hot -key on.. Radio fuse -10amp.... Delco, Bose system...Orange,-20amp ARC fuse..Hot all the time, Yellow, radio fuse, -10 amp, hot with key on. Your second orange wire powers your Amp Relay, in the Acc fuse,- 20 amp ..it has a constant hot, or power..so you might be getting power @ the Radio, but Nothing out the speakers.. Hope that helps..

My radio and lighter wont work. Replaced the fuse with no luck. The previous owner had a system in the car and removed it but the fuse and line are still coming off the battery terminal. Any guesses?

two factors are involved here,
one is the acc line is disconnected, if the radio is not working because they share the same line
or the lighter is grounded causing the fuse to bust.

On the fuse box behind the driver side left kick panel find the Radio fuse and connect the main power to that remember to keep the full time power connected to the proper wire so your clock (if you raido has one) will keep correct time. If you are not sure which wire on the radio is full time power and which is the on off power check the manufacture web site for information or call there help line. From the radios I have done and I am no expert beleave me but the ones I remember always used Red for the main power (the one that should be switched so the radio comes on with the key and not have to be turned on and off) the full time power for the clock and memory features is usualy yellow. Black or green can be ground but use caution as these could also be speaker wire colors. If you cant find the fuse location from the original radio you can use a simple volt meter or just a 12 volt light blub with two wires attached. simply take the negitive side and place that wire on a bolt that is screwed into the car metal body or frame or to a known ground wire. take the positive end and start touching the positive wires on the back on fuse box. if you start with the key off you know everyone that lights up has constant power so mark them with one color perminate marker. next turn the key to ACC. and see which of the non marked have power and again mark them with a different color (one of these will be the one you want to use just make sure you pick one with a small fuse as most radios will melt long before a #25 fuse blows again check the manufactures spesifications for the proper fuse range to use. Now the only thing left to do is to turn the key to on and make sure the power sorse you plan to use stays on withthe key in on as well as acc. now connect the red wire to the source chosen and leave everything else alone and you sould be fine. I can stress this enough you should always check with the manufacture of the radio before playing with the wires to make sure you dont put the wrong one in the wrong place because doing so can dammage the radio of worse your car. Also keep in mind I am not a professional and am offering the way I would approch this problem if it were me doing it. If possable your best bet is to take the car to a professional so you have some assurances it is done correctly and you wont come out one day to find your car has caught fire and is a pile of ash because you put this wire where that one went and didnt notice anything. Good luck

The first thing to do is to check if your power wire actually has power to it. Do this with a test light or a multimeter. Given that the wire is powered, check to make sure your ground is good. Modern cars have so much plastic in them that grounds may be hard to find. The next step is to check the rig's fuse. Make sure the microphone is plugged in, too. If none of this helps, your radio needs repair or replacement.
