Use a voltmeter (VOM) to find 12v wire always ON, this connects to the receivers YELLOW wire. Then use the VOM to find a 12v wire ON with Ignition, this will connect to the RED wire on your unit, Then use the OHM function on the VOM to find a suitable GROUND, this will connect to the BLACK wire on your unit. The ACC wire is for activating a power antenna.

Orange with white is for Illumination. Connecting this cable will sync dash brightness with radio. This connection is often not used since most older cars dont have this connection.

I'm trying to install a new panasonic car stereo into a 2005 dodge dakota and cannot get power to the radio to run. I have the recommended car harness and still can't get the thing to work. can you give...

take digital voltmeter and follow the harness colors to check for powers and grounds

red is ignition switched 12 volts only when car is running
yellow is constant power 12 volts on all the time from battery

black is ground this is the most important wire in the radio circuit if you dont have it grounded good you wont get a complete circuit .

to ground a radio either use the factory ground or find a piece of metal that is connected to the truck frame and scrape the area clean from paint or oils or grease and take a star washer and screw down the wire or bolt down the wire to get a good ground make all ground in one area so you dont get a ground loop .....

I am having trouble getting power to my new cd player. I have the orange battery wire hooked up, and also the ground wire is hooked up, and there is a red wire on the cd player that is a Ignition wire....

2 wires for power- one that is ALWAYS connected (remembers time, preset stations, etc.), and the other one you hook up to your ignition circuit (allows your radio to come on only when the key has been turned to ACC or RUN).

When you have wired this correctly, your radio will only come on when the ignition key is in ACC or RUN, and will ALSO remember the preset radio stations and the time, etc., when the key is turned off then back on again.

If you look at your fusebox, look for an ACC (accessory) junction that you can tap into. Also, don't forget that it's important to put a fuse in any wire you connect to a 12v+ source; don't rely on the fuse you are tapping into.

Hope this helps.

I install a radio it dont keep a memory

Pull the radio back out. I bet you hooked up both power wires (red and orange or yellow) to the ignition on hot wire. Orange or yellow depending on the radio usualy goes to the ignition on hot wire and red to a constant hot wire. Check the radio wiring diagram or list. One of the power wires has to go to a full time power source. check the wires with a circuit tester with the key off till you find the constant hot wire (battery power)

I dont know how to rewire the clip that goes into the back of my cd player...which are ground and acc, and direct power?

do you have harness going to your system if so you can match the wire colors together if not you will have to hardwire but keep in mind you will need a 12v tester with a light on it to check your ground lead your acc or ignition and then your direct or constant 12v you will have to check these three wires with a volt meter if you dont have a harness for your vehicle

CD PLAYER IN boat says ACCS and does not work, i have power and i checked the fuse's all working but the screen reads ACCS and i cannot remember how i fixed it the first time this went wrong,

OK, so I spoke with a Claion reseller and they were very nice and helpful. ACCS mode is accesory mode. This can happen if the brown wire in the back touches ground or the case on the radio. If it is not, tap the brown wire on the yellow(hot) wire and that takes it out of that mode. I tried it and it worked. Good luck! And thanks Clarion for your support on my 3 year old radio!

DehP6700 mp restet everytime keys is turned on.

first red is ignition or acc (turns off and on with the key) yellow is constant power (always hot keeps memory) orange is illumination (lights up radio) if vehicle doesnt have a seperate illumination wire connect it to the ignition wire. now process of elimination your ground is correct because it worked with all wires to acc your acc works because u had all them connected to it and it worked your problem is in your yellow or constant/memory i suggest u test it again take piece of wire any old thing long enough will do and run the wire directly from the battery under the hood and just run it outside the car through the window and connect it directly to the yellow wire make sure u have a good connection at the battery on the positive side if u have test light or volt meter test the wire before connecting it to the radio if it works then u know there is a problem with the wire from the vehicle (fuse wrong wire bad wire ) if it doesnt work make sure ground is connected tight and that paint is cleaned of the surface where ground connects and that the yellow wire to the radio is tight in the back of the radio.
