Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed

Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.

After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.

Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.

Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software.

The 4 possible restore options are:

    • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.

Best to choose restore and update, if available, or just restore it there is no update.

A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.

During the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage.

After the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

My ipod nano 2nd gen's screen won't display anything..

I have had this problem recently myself and would like you to know that it is possible to fix. The white screen error or otherwise known as "white screen of death" is caused by the lcd color screen on the ipod itself. That is why its functions still work but the screen does not. Once you replace the color screen it will be as good as new.

Ipod Nano Sync

When you plugged the IPod into the new or cleaned computer, it was like plugging the iPod into a brand new computer with different specs. The formatting options may have changed, and when the iPod tried to adjust for this format difference, the DB or file system could have become corrupted. forutnately, Apple has ways to correct this problem.

To help you, I will need to know what OS you have? Windows XP? Windows Vista?

Of course, this is only one of many possibilities. I would start simple - do the 5 "R's" that Apple suggest in the manual:
Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If
one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems.
â Reset your iPod nano. See “General Suggestions,” below.
â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes.
â Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates
installed.
â Reinstall iPod and iTunes software from the latest versions on the web.
â Restore your iPod nano. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” on page 50.
After doing this, try to resync thos songs.

Good luck - let me know if you need more help!

IPod does not turn on or show up on the comp! NO SIGN OF LIFE!

Hi! I have the second generation iPod nano and just experienced the same problem. However, one of my friends gave me this advice. Maybe it'll help you too. If you iPod doesn't turn on or doesn't show up on the computer what you do is hold down the menu and select or center button for seven seconds. It'll reset without deleting your music or anything. I hope this helps.
