Question about Samsung DV218AEW Electric Dryer
My warranty just expired for my Samsung dryer. I was doing a load last week, it sparked underneath, then shut total power off to the machine , then smoke came out of the spinning tub. As of now, it still won't turn on or do anything. What can this be and what should I test/ look for while I have it apart??? firstname.lastname@example.org

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

will either be the element or the thermostats. you should check the stats first. To do this remove the back panel that is protruding out of the back, this houses the element and the 2 small stats. Visually check the element and if it looks ok then test the 2 stats. Do this by using a multimeter on continuity setting or sounder/buzzer setting and place the probes 1 on each side of the stats and you should get continuity or a buzzer sound. If not you will need to replace both of them. Hope this helps

What is the model number for the samsung dryer? Usually when this happens there are small thermistors that act as safety devices in the dryer that will prevent the unit from running. For example there is a hi and low limit thermistor that if either will faulty the unit would not run at all the lights would come on but the unit would not run to prevent the unit from getting to hot. Message me back your model number and I will find your schematic showing the thermistors in your unit. You would have to check these thermistors with a multimeter and perform continutity tests on them to assure that they are functioning properly. I await your reply Thanks Rick
