How and what do I have to remove to be able to replace a hidden switch lid on a Kenmore 600 washer?

1st, you'll have to remove the top section that has the controls by removing the screws from the back that attach it to the main body of your machine. Then, you should find the screws or other devices that keep your lid attached to the machine, and be able to remove it, gaining access to that "hidden switch".

Where is the heating element in the kenmore dryer

It depends upon the model number.
Most Kenmore dryer elements are accessible after you remove the rear panel of the dryer.
If your dryer does not have a removable rear panel you must open the top lid and remove the front panel.

I have a kenmore elite electric dryer purchased in 2004 and I am just trying to figure out how to lift the top of the dryer so I can replace the safety switch

Good day,
Remove the lint filter. Remove the 2 screws exposed with the filter out.
Insert a thin screw under the lid and pry it up off it's clips which are on each corner, one at a time.
Lift the lid up, but do not go past vertical. Prop it in place to perform the switch change.

Thanks for using FixYa

Dryer Kenmore

Yes, but check the breaker first. turn off/on to check. Remove the screws at the lint filter. remove fint filter. Use a thin putty knife at thr front between the top and door support to depress the spring clips holding the lid down, one at a time pull each side to disengage clip. Lift lid. The door switch is above the door inside under the lid. ALWAYS UNPLUG BEFORE WORKING ON ELECTRIC APPLIANCES.

Belt fell off my kenmore dryer, and i cant figure out how to get into cabinet to replace belt any help?

The lid on the dryer needs to be lifted. Open the door and look up at the underside of the lid. You will see several screws. remove them first. Then slide a putty knife between the lid and the sides about 3-4" back from the front of the drier. There are spring clips in this area on either side. You may need to pop the lid up. Do not use a screwdriver as you may crack the porcelain finish. There should be a belt diagram inside.

How to get into the cabinet? I have a Kenmore Dryer that hums but the drum won't turn, maybe belt! Model # 110 62942100 thanks, tom

Hi,

Kenmore dryer belt

  • UNPLUG DRYER
  • remove lint filter
  • remove two screws in lint filter panel securing cabinet lid to filter frame
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, depress clips ~2inches in from the front corners of the lid to release cabinet lid
  • tilt lid up
  • remove 1 screw from each side 1/3 the way down
  • remove cabinet front and door
  • motor bearings tensioner are all visible

  • lift out drum forwards
  • check support rollers felts and nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage, and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • make sure tensioner is still installed in cabinet base, sometimes breaking belts pull them out
  • loop belt around drum at prior wear marks
  • reinsert drum
  • pull tensioner to end of travel against spring
  • loop belt around motor pully and tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • rotate drum by hand to make sure belt wont jump off.
Thanks

KENMORE DRYER PART NO 696891

My dryer keeps breaking the belts for no reason. I am going to take it outside and beat it with a 10 LB sledge hammer and set it on fire!
