If you cannot get the disk to eject, power the device off and insert a paper-clip into the emergency-eject hole in the front of the device. It should be located just under the disk tray.

Good luck!

The DVD Recorder just doesn't power up..

No power, display or functions at all? It is likely that one or more components in the power supply are short-circuit, leaky and/or open-circuit. The trouble with switchmode power supplies is usually caused by (but not limited to) electrolytic capacitors - these fail in all sorts of ways including leaking or drying out due to their proximity to parts with heatsinks, such as IC regulators. The cost of repair depends on which service centre you take the recorder to, who you deal with, and the combined replacement parts/labour involved.

If you are prepared to spend a small fortune in getting this unit fixed, go ahead, get a quote for the likely repair cost FIRST; then you can make a decision afterwards based on the information from the repair shop as to whether this is economical to repair or not. You may or may not be charged a fee for the quote on repairs.

It is up to you. If you feel it might not be economical or cost-effective to fix this one, get the second opinion from the service centre first, then maybe later on consider a new machine if nothing else.

These days, products become cheaper to buy, but more expensive to repair.

I have a Sansui DVR5013H DVD recorder. It stopped working a few weeks ago. There is a light on it that is normally blue and it goes red if it is recording. That now lights up purple. I took the lid off and...

My DVR5013 has a faulty power supply as well, I replaced 1 cap and it was working ok for a while but now it looks like the FET has died, another on order..

Has anyone got a circuit for this beasty?

Seems that the major problem with these units is always the Power supply, low quality, cheap and nasty.

Faulty power-supply symptoms:

The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:

Interface error
(and or)
Interface error! Turn off the power

If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.

Interface error! Turn off the power <--- explains how to completely restore your combo in less than 20minutes by replacing a $1.59 part on the power-supply board.

LG DR-4810 DVD Displays " PLEASE WAIT"

to open the tray during "please wait", remove casing then loosen front panel (clips either side and underneath). Power up to get "please wait", then press small microswitch in bottom right corner of the DVD player unit. Have you tried resetting the unit (turning on and holding the power button for at least 5-10 seconds)? Have you tried unplugging the unit for a longer period of time (24 hours)? get your firmware upgrade through here(sorry its in german, you might be able to get an english of it through the LG site) - two cd's- bootloader.iso , update.iso Good luck
