Question about Avaya Corded Phone avaparp18d

Avaya partner key system phone... we are experiencing static on only one phone on the system... any ideas as to where to look for the problem

    Partner phone systems are notorious for developing static on the station ports of the system. If you are comfrotable with moving the plugs around on the phone system and know where your extension plugs into the modules you can check this yourself. Have you tried the previous suggestion of swapping out the phone with a known working phone? If you still have static and it also happens on internally call(station to station) then the port is going bad.

    Is the static on both ends of a call, or just on receive at that phone? Our Meridian system at work suffers from the static on receive occasionally and it's always a handset or cord issue. If it's at both ends, try another phone.

When you get the static on a call. Dial another intercom number. Do you still have the static? Is it only on 1 line, try another....

As stated earlier, flip flop 2 extensions and see if you still have it....

Here's a link to avaya's site for a Partner ACS users guide. Not knowing which type of partner system you have, this one should get you into the ball park. Theres also programming and installation guides for the different systems there.

Also, here's how to change the time.

next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
enter in "#103"
the display should say system time and the current programmed time
enter the new time in 24 hour format

Never heard that one before, you might try # 306 and see if the return extension is itsself.

Changing the time on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11. At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
enter in "#103"
the display should say system time and the current programmed time
enter the new time in 24 hour format
press feature "00" to logout

Is it on the same line? What about when you call other extensions, is there static?

If it is a line, swap that line and another. If you have static on the same line port, then it is a port problem of the system. If it follows the dialtone, the line from the phone company is the problem.

Depending on the type of voicemail you have, That's done by pressing your voicemail key or intercom 777. If you have a Partnermail VS the admin mailbox is 99 with the default password of 1234.If you mave a Partner Messaging System2.gif the admin mailbox is 0 with a default password of 1234 or 123456. Once your into the admin mailbox press 9 for admin programming2.gif.

Lucent Partner 34D phone system with 18D extensions


That doesn't sound good at all. I would first try powering down the system and waiting about 15 seconds or so before powering back up. If the problem remains, the processor was some how damagedand would be best if it was looked at by your vendor.

Static in phones


Static on Partner systems is not too uncommon and more likely as the system ages. These systems use relays (electric switches) to connect to outside lines and extensions. The static is usually from a faulty relay, but sadly these are not really repairable by end users. A power outage is sometimes associated with spikes - short high voltage conditions that occur as the power comes back on. Any vulnerable component may fail at that time. The solution is to replace the bad circuit pack. These are available used - just use your search engine. Prevention can be as easy as installing a good surge and spike protector power strip between the system and the outlet.
