Speaker switching problem

Basically mt reciever is switching between A & B speakers like a little kid is playing with the buttons with or without speakers connected, it will turn on "A", turn it off, turn on "B" turn it off and continue thusly until I get frustrated and turn the machine off sound does come out of the speakers for the second their side is on, but otherwise it is the repeated clicking of speaker switching I have a service manual, but am not about to poke around something I cannot see, and for some reason I cannot locate the source

I have the exact same problem with mine. I have no idea why it's doing it.

I have the same problem. My onkyo has been doing that for a few years. It will click on and off for a few minutes until the unit is "warmed up" after five minutes it works fine. When the sound cuts out if I press the A button the speakers will work, but then they cut back out. Sometimes the sound stays on somtimes I have to get up after a few minutes and press A. It's annoying and I'm tempted to just leave it on, but I'd rather get it fixed.

    Hello FixYa Experts,
I have an A&B speaker switching problem with my Onkyo TX-DS747.
It jumps back and forth between the A & B setting. As I have it set to the
A setting there is no audio until it jumps back.
The amp is clean and A & B buttons are clean and have positive positions when pushed.
The amp will keep the A setting once it is warmed up but as time goes on it is taking longer to lock onto the A setting.
There are other posts with the same problem on FixYa so I will add my post to the list and see if the experts can find a Fix.
    Thanks much, Edd

I own a TX-DS747 and my unit seems to be having trouble energizing the speaker relay when it is turned on. My solution has been to keep it on (not very green) however after about 6months of keeping it on it finally started clicking on and off again even after it was warmed up.

Kenwood KR-V7080 reciever will not play through speakers.I can still plug headphones into the reciever and get audio but not through the speakers. Tested the speakers and they still work.

If the speakers used to switch off when the headphone plug was put in the socket, suspect the socket it goes into as being the trouble. It is clearly not connecting the speakers, when the headphone plug is removed.

Playing cd's no sound from the speakers when I have the cd/dvd option selected. When I put the reciever on I can hear dead air coming thru the speakers but not when I have the cd switch selected....

You need to find the manual and/or read and understand every indicator and evaluate how it affects the sound. Use a medium volume setting while troubleshooting.Check connections.

Start with the basics. Speaker test ok? FM ok. Digital sources assigned yada yada.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

My denon avr1200 receiver once it is turned on goes into Protection mode. How do you reset or make work?

The reciever will go into protection mode when there is a short in the speaker wires or the amplifier was overloaded. What I would do first is verify that none of the speaker wire connections are loose at the back of the reciever or at each speaker. And verify that none of the wires are making contact with each other. Then label each speaker wire as you remove them from the reciever so you can re-install them correctly. After you have disconnected the speaker wires try unplugging the reciever for 10 to 15 minutes. Most recievers have a self-resetting overload protection switch and this should reset it back to normal. Now try plugging the reciever back in and turn it on without the speaker wires connected. It should be out of protection mode now. If it is still in protection mode verify that there is not a reset switch somewhere on the back of the reciever. If it is not in protection mode now then proceed to connect one speaker set at a time and turn on the reciever to see if it goes into protection mode. If it goes into that mode after connecting a speaker then that speaker is the cause of the problem. If it does not go into the mode after all speakers are connected then try turning the volume up. If it goes into protection mode then there could be an internal short on the amplifier or a incorrect OHM rated speakers connected to reciever. Verify that the speakers are rated the correct OHMS.

Sound is off. kids playing on it. have hit every sound button on keyboard. is there a mute button? Thanks

Go to: Control Panel > Sound and then a box will pop up. Click on Playback tab and make sure your correct speaker output is selected as the default. Then click Apply button. Then OK. Also, to check your mute/volume button click the speaker icon on your task bar (its next to the little clock in the bottom right of your screen. You might have to click a little arrow that looks like this < to see it. Then just turn up the volme. Also, make sure the speaker cables are plugged in and the power cord as well if they are external speakers.

Center and surround speakers work, but front right and front left speakers do not put out any sound

I had the same problem. Set the reciever on 6 channel stereo. On this setting, you should be getting the same sound out of each speaker. Isolate which speakers aren't getting sound. Now, on your speaker switch (the A/B button), select A. If that doesn't fix it, select B. If that doesn't fix it, try A and B (if you can on your reciever).

Now, when you switch back to pro-logic, make sure your a/b channel switch is in the position that worked in 6 channel stereo. Yamaha recievers have a memory, and when you switch various modes, it makes auto adjustments based on what you had set in the past.

Hope this helps

Subwoofer VERY weak

According to the KLH manual for the 9906 "6 pack" with the BassBite sub... it says "if your sub is connected via the speaker - level terminals, your reciever must be set for "NO" subwoofer - even though you are using one. VErify proper polarity on your speaker connection wires. (red or gold to +, black or silver to -). Depending on how you have your woofer connected to the reciever, if connected to a reciever without a subwoofer out then set your reciever for LARGE speakers and turn the subwoofer setting "OFF". Failure to do so will result in little to no bass. If you do have a subwoofer out from your reciever adjust your speaker size setting to small or large speakers as appropriate. Set the recievers sub output to ON. Connecting small speakers to a reciever set for LArge speakers can result in damage to small speakers.

Hope this helps.
