IBM ThinkPad T60. No sound & internal wireless modem is dead
I have an IBM ThinkPad T60. I no longer get sound from the internal speakers or through the headphone jack. In addition, the internal wireless modem no longer works. Any ideas on how I can fix these two problems. Thanks, Frank

First is there a security code to connect to your wireless access point? This is YOUR home wireless? Is your wireless adapter enabled, and working properly on the laptop? Reboot the wireless access point by removing th AC plug and wait 30 seconds, plug in, wait for the device to self-test. Cold-start your laptop, unplug. remove battery, plug in, reboot. If that fails go to IBM/ Lonovo website and update driver for wireless adapter. And all other deivers as needed.
the battery might be so dead that it's faulting the charging system, remove the battery, remove the power then plug it back in (with out the battery) and try turning it on,.. if that doesn't work try looking up how to reset the bios (or remove the bios battery) for a BIOS reset.
To answer the first problem. I see the file offered from IBM for the wireless driver is an .exe file. The file must be run and the application installed. If windows detects the hardware and you point to that file it will not recognise it as a driver.
The second problem is quite a bit different. There at least the hardware is installed otherwise you would not be able to detect wireless connections.
check this out. it worked for me and i had the same problem as yours on my T60. http://www.masnick.com/2007/09/07/the-secret-thinkpad-powerbutton-code-to-bring-dead-laptops-back-to-life/comment-page-1/#comment-40720
