Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop

1 Answer

Will not connect to windows unless I shake laptop

When I turn on my laptop the Dell logo comes and there is a bar under the logo that looks like it is loading but it never stops and the Windows does not come up. I will close the lid and ''shake'' the laptop and then Windows will load. This laptop is little over 4 years old.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I have heard of similar problems such as yours...when booting up press firmly on the keyboard just under the 7 and the 8 ...sometimes that helps.
Another one I heard was to make sure the all of the screws are snug one the bottom.
As for shaking- I don't see that as a good thing to do, even though you get occasional results.

How do I factory reset my Dell latitude D510 laptop to default settings

Step 1 Disconnect any connected peripherals from your laptop. This includes USB drives, printers or external mice and keyboards. Connect the computer to only the charger and connect the charger to a wall outlet.
Step 2 Restart the computer if already turned on, or start the computer.
Step 3 Press the "Ctrl" key and "F11" key simultaneously on the keyboard when the Dell logo appears on the screen. The Dell PC Restore by Symantec window appears.
Step 4 Click the "Restore" option. A warning message appears.
Step 5 Click the "Confirm" option. Allow the computer to revert to factory settings. According to Dell, this process normally takes from eight to 10 minutes to complete; a progress bar appears showing the time until completion.
Step 6 Click "Finish" once the process completes. The computer will restart in the same state it was when you first purchased the laptop.

I have a dell laptop. When I turn it on Windows comes up and it stays on the screen that says windows and has the bar that goes from left to right to tell you it's booting. It never stops doing that. I...

Shut the system down by holding the power button for 5 seconds or more. Turn the system back on, as soon as the blue dell logo goes away tap f8 on the keyboard. This should bring you to a menu from which you can select "safe mode". See if it starts in safe mode. If so, troubleshoot further from there. If not press f12 on the dell logo and choose diagnostics. Run a quick scan, see if any errors are returned for the hard drive.

Run Dell diagnostics to see if your hard drive is faulty.

Connect power cable, turn on laptop and press F12 key when the Dell logo comes up.

Select Diagnostics and hit enter, if you get the windows splash screen, turn off laptop and repeat.

My computer, a Dell Inspiron 1525, keeps freezing. Everytime I turn it on, it'll freeze at least once before I'm able to use it.

Try to 'recover' or 'restore' to an earlier time. Look under help in the start menu in order to find links to make this happen on your laptop.

Or, try to get Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, and install it through the DVD drive, if so equipped to overwrite the old operating system that is giving you trouble.

One may also try to download the Windows 7 operating system, if a DVD drive is not available, but an Internet connection is.

Good luck on this repair.

You can try to boot to safemode. When you turn on system as soon as you see Dell logo keep tapping F8,select Safemode under advance boot option. If you we're able to log in to your account you can try to uninstall video driver and restart the system to normal mode then reinstall the video driver.
If you we're not able to boot to safemode , you can try to connect to external monitor toggle to FN+F8 if still not showing anything might be a bad video card.

Starting problem

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.
