SOURCE: buttonhole lever

If you remove the cover on the upper left portion of the machine, while looking from the left to the right.....Above the BH lever area, you will see a round cam with a post through the middle. Rotate the round can ( with fingers on it), and try again. This will change the angle position on the lever, and hopefully correct your problem. You may have to go a couple of clicks in either direction.

SOURCE: machine will not complete a buttonhole, keeps showing error code 6L. No error code listed in manual. Machine will only do first half of buttonhole and then shows code and stops.

I've been looking too and I found here http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/sewingclasses/board.pl?t=18328that you need to put the bar behind the needle threader down. I think they call it a button hole stop? I don't know, but it worked. I didn't even know it existed. But it solved my problem. On my Kenmore it looks like a black lever and you pull it down. It tells the button-holer that you are at the end of the hole and it needs to backup. nifty, kind of.

SOURCE: buttonhole problem

Hi,
When doing the button hole....after installing the button hole foot and lowering the foot....and adding the button so the automatic button hole size is determined...you lower the button hole lever it will touch the back of the button hole foot. this holds the button hole foot in the proper position...if this lever is not all the way down...the machine blips at you...check to see that it is down all the way...I hope this helps you..It truly does all that it advertises and is a great machine...BBill01
P.S. you can adjust width and length of the stich also...see instruction manual. pg 28-30

SOURCE: I have a Bernina Sewing Machine with a Control Board that smoked

Bernina does not sell individual components for PCBs, rather they have an exchange program for the entire board. But you have nothing to lose and much money to save if you can obtain the parts and replace them yourself. You should be able to get the caps and resistors from any electronics supply.

Do you have a manual? If not, here is one that may help:

However, it appears from some user reviews that this model seemed to have some issues with the buttonhole:

How do I make a new buttonhole on my 1260? B

Hi Karen,
Sew two parallel lines of overlock stitches very close together. Then see overlock stitches accros the ends of the first lot of stitches to close them off. Finally, carefully cut the fabric between the first set of stitches. Try this out several times on some scrap fabric. You'll need to get the spacings sorted out.

Bernina Bernett 55 is stuck in reverse

make sure it's not in the buttonhole setting, and if the machine
isn't in the buttonhole setting and the buttonhole lever isn't down
then it would be a good idea to have the machine checked to see
why the machine ins stuck in reverse.

Bernina Buttonhole foot #3A

Difficult to say whether your current foot can be repaired or even if a new foot is the answer. I believe the auto buttonhole needs to be calibrated to the machine, but not sure that is the issue with your machine.

You can sew a buttonhole without using a buttonhole foot--not really difficult as that's how it was done for many years before the manufacturers developed the specialty foot. (My machine came with a buttonhole foot but I still make mine the old-fashioned way because I determine how they will look rather than the machine making that choice for me.)

Practice a few times on scrap fabric and write down the stitch widths & lengths that work the best for you so you can replicate each stitch to look alike.

Bernina Buttonhole foot #3A

Hi, you must have an 1130S which means it could also be a circuitboard issue. If the LED/LCD light for the buttonholer does not flash you either need a new RET-Print (circuitboard) or a new buttonhole foot. Sorry to say that you DO more than likely need a new buttonhole foot according to my manual on this machine. No way to repair the foot that I know of.
You should bring the machine in and try it first.
Guess not all news is good news. Sorry.
