We are only assuming that the problem is a virus. Sorry, don't know the name of it. Will give you any info I can. Judi. Thanks.

  • judid1 Mar 12, 2009

I went to AdAware and it showed Win32TrojanSpy 4, but it indicated it had taken care of this. It also showed 83 cookies that had been eliminated. Hope this will help. Judi.

Do you mean to wipe it clean and start all over? If so, where do we go to do this? Thanks.

My computer is attacked by virus and i tried to claen through avast and avira but still i have virus in my system and it make my pc slower can u plz suggrst what to do and which antivirus i have to use...

Bro follow this protocol to prevent that kind of problem.
after the installations of the operating system and other application software, you should have to full scan the entire hard disk drives to get rid of the physical system virus that can will affect your entire software libraries and other system files, and choose the anti virus that can will protect both offline and online use of the system like norton antivirus security 2010. online usage means if you are on an internet usage the fact is while you are browser and install movies, video clips, games, images and other web applications you can get 10percent of the trojan virus on it and when you are on offline usage you can get as much as 45% viruses online usage because nowadays we are using flash drives and that devices can affect your system because of the operation what we call virus-transper-prototype and it is carried diffent types of viruses that you never expected that can affect your entire system applcations. virus-transper-prototype mean pc to pc file with virus transfer.

Freeware instead of expensive 'Suites.'

Freeware is a Great Way to Go!

Freeware;
  • is software intentionally available on the Internet without charge, and for all users to download.
  • ranges from programs which are excellent virus protection to programs that rival the best purchased word processing or spreadsheet "Suites." You can save money and help make information available to everyone, without limiting it to those who can pay.
Some of the best freeware programs I have found and given to many of my peers are;

Avast Virus Protection,
http://www.avast.com
Open Office Suite
http://openoffice.org
Picasa photo editor.
https://picasaweb.google.com
Mozilla Firefox
http:mozilla.org

  • offers a superb, fully customizable Web browser that is fast, functional, and offering well engineered add-ons and plug-ins.
  • Mozilla Thunderbird is the best mail client I have ever used and I have never paid a penny for its use.

***By actively promoting freeware, users are supporting it with this most valuable commodity ; appreciation.

Top 10 free PC programs everyone should have

There are millions of free and open source projects available, many of them better than any commercially available product. Below is a short listing of what we think is the best out there, broken down into ten categories.
Anti-virus and malware protection
Most PC users realize that they need some type of protection on their computer or may have an installed anti-virus program from their computer manufacturer. What most don't realize is that there are free programs that are just as good and in some cases better than the commercial products. Below are our recommendations
Anti-virus program: Avast! or AVG
Malware / Spyware protection: Malwarebytes
Backup solutions
There are dozens of free and commercially available backup programs for computers. Unfortunately many of those backups are stored locally, meaning if your house were to catch fire, get robbed, or if you simply lost your backup discs all your data would be lost. This is why when dealing with important data we suggest users use online backup services.
Online backup solution: Mozy * or Dropbox
* Free 2GB of online backup for personal use
Browsers
Although Microsoft Internet Explorer comes pre-installed on Windows computers. There are several excellent free alternatives that everyone should try. These free alternatives can often be faster, have more options, and in many cases be more secure than Internet Explorer.
Internet Browser: Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome
Compression utility
When downloading files on the Internet you'll eventually encounter a .zip, .rar, or other compressed file. Dealing with these files can be easy with our below free file compression utility.
File compression utility: 7-zip
Disc ripper and creation utility
Creating an audio or data CD/DVD, ripping the data from an audio CD, or creating a CD from a .ISO file can also be done freely using our below free recommendation.
CD burner / ripper utility: CDBurnerXP
E-mail
E-mail is yet another service that can be done freely. Most users today use online e-mail solutions like the one listed below. However, for those still using an e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook we strongly suggest one or both of the below suggestions.
E-mail client: Mozilla Thunderbird
Online e-mail: Gmail
FTP, SFTP, and SSH Utility
Users who maintain their own web page or need to upload / download files to or from a server will have to use an FTP utility and/or a SSH client. There are many commercial programs capable of doing this but our below free recommendations beats them all.
FTP client: Filezilla
SSH client: Putty
Image editor, paint program, and picture organizer
There are many great free solutions for editing, creating, and organizing your images on your computer. Many of the alternative programs capable of doing these types of tasks can be several hundred dollars, but all of the below programs are completely free.
Image editor: GIMP
Paint program: Paint.net
Picture organizer: Google Picasa
Multimedia
There are dozens of different multimedia programs with different capabilities and limitations. Below are our top free multimedia programs for watching video files and recording audio.
Audio editing and creating tool: Audacity
Video and DVD Player: VLC
Office Suite
An Office suite such as Microsoft Office is often one of the most expensive programs that a user can install on their computer. Why install these expensive programs when there are free solutions that are just as good.
Office suite: OpenOffice
Notepad / Source code editor: Notepad++

Hi,

Yes it sounds like you could have a possible virus hidden in the temporary internet files folder.

This folder is usually hidden from most users.

Click on the link i have provided below and install malwarebytes and run it. If there is any suspicious content on your PC this software will pick it up.

Another good idea is to reinstall your browser.

for firefox go to tools menu, click on options, click on the Applications, scroll down to mail to change the option from hotmail to yahoo.

for IE, on the menu bar click on internet options, the options are General, Security, piracy, Content, connection, program, advance, please click on the program options, you will see E-mail edit it to suit your purpose

Internet running slow

your graphics card will not affect the speed of your internet connection, but may affect the rate of video playback from streaming or downloaded video. when your internet slows down it b/c wither your machine is being overworked or your connection is being flooded.
from my experience, when internet becomes slow, the computer has started taking longer to start up 90% of the time. If this is the case for you, where you have seen a decline in overall performance of your system, you have more than likely been infected by virus, spyware/adware, and have too many programs requesting resources.

press ctrl+alt+del, select the task manager and click the processes tab. then click on the column names "username" two times. this will list all the processes beginning with the ones that started after windows initially started.

if there are anout 20 of them or more than you have programs needlessly running in the background.

you must select all the programs that start automatically and go to the options menu and deselect the box that says "run on system startup"
then run a virus sweep. if you dont have virus, spy/adware, and firewall protection(all 3) then you must get them ASAP. they will save your computer from needing technically assistance as often.

free-avg.com has a great free version that is very easy to use and does most of the work for you

GOOD LUCK

Hello, I have a criket wireless and I cancel my earthlink E mail. now I don't have a E mail address and my Norton is running out. HELP

Use your friends internet and go to hotmail.com or yahoo.com and create a FREE email account.. you can register your software to that. However if you don't have access to the internet you will not get the full benefits of the software as they update regularly for virus protections and such. My suggestion, at least get some sort of access at a friends house one time a month and check for updates on your software... without those updates you really are not getting the benefits of even having Norton to begin with.

How to access my email

The first thing you want to try is removing e-mail scanning in TM.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer
of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving, and
causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes
and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your up-to-date A/V
program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program
and reinstall in Custom Mode and opt out of e-mail scanning when the option
arises.
