Try reinstalling the audio driver.
Download the audio and device drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure you select the model of your laptop the drivers you that require that matches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: -

No sound on my pc.message is audio service is not running

Which Operating System do you have?

You would have to go into the Administrator Tools in the Control Panel to then select Services and start the Audio Service. The service is called Windows Audio.

I could not hear from my loptop, sony vaio. i got attacked by severe virus yesterday, and i was bound to recover c drive, after doing this, my audio device is not working at all. what can i do now?

Hi.
There are a couple of things that could have happened.

First, when you recovered the c: drive, it could have deleted the files for the audio.
Second, it could be that the audio service just got shut off.

To download new audio drivers, go to realtek.com
There you will be able to select either ac'97 audio drivers, or hd audio drivers, depending on what kind was on your computer before the virus issue occurred.
Download and install the appropriate one, then reboot afterward, in most cases this will fix the audio issues.
When you install it, it should automatically start the audio service again, so that you can actually hear what you are doing on your laptop.

For restarting the audio service manually, in your run box, type in services.msc and press enter.

This will open up the services module, with a list of all the services on your computer.

I don't recommend messing with most of the settings there, but audio is one of the ones that it is safe to do so.
Go down the list almost all the way to the very bottom, there will be one that says " Windows Audio".
Click on it, and on the left hand side it will give some options.
If the service is listed as running, then it will have a selection for "stop" and one for "restart service"..
If it says that it is working, but you have no sound, then try restarting the service.
It could be a glitch, and restarting the service may fix it.
If the service isn't running, then the only option on the left will be "start".
If that is the case, then click "start".

It may be tempting to go and turn some services of that normally run on your laptop, but I don't really recommend it, most services are linked into other services, so if you turn one off, it could cause several others to stop working at the same time.

Just bear that in mind when you go into the services console.

Between the two different things that I have mentioned, most likely it is the missing audio software, so I would try that first.
But if that fails, then try going to service module, sometimes that is all that is needed is

I hope that this helps you out,I know how frustrating it can be to have no sound on a computer.
Good luck to you on this, and have a great day !

I currently reformated my computer and everytime i try to install the sound driver i get no audio please help :(

Hi. I have seen this problem before.
Although you have the software installed, the device isn't enabled. In order to turn it on, you have to start the audio service.

To do that, click your start button, then click the run button.
Next, type services.msc and press enter.
This will bring up your services console.
Go down to the bottom of the list and you will see Windows audio
click on it, and it will highlight it, as well as give options on the left column.

If the service IS running, then the options will be "stop" and "restart ".
If the service is not running, the only option it will give you is "start".
Start or restart the service, whichever one is available.
Then, double click on the windows audio tab
This will bring up the audio service properties box

Make sure that it is set to automatic.
If it is already set to auto, set it to manual, click apply, then click it back to auto and click apply again.

Next, click on the recovery tab at the top.

On all three selections, choose " automatically restart service" then click apply.

Now exit out of the service console and reboot.

If all goes well, you should now have your audio.

You may have to tell the service "auto" before you can successfully install audio drivers.

No sound at all..

I found several things to check about this issue.

First of all, make sure Windows Audio and Windows Management Instrumentation Services are running. Steps:
  1. Go to start -> run. If your keyboard has a ‘windows key’, which looks like the windows icon and is often located next to ctrl/alt, you can get away with pressing (and holding) this key, and tapping the ‘r’ key. I use this shortcut almost every day. On that note, windows-key+e I use even more- try it.
  2. type ’services.msc’, without the single quotes. This opens a list of the various services running on your computer.
  3. Make sure iTunes is closed.
  4. Locate “Windows Audio,” and see if it’s running. If it is, the status will show ‘Started’.
  5. No? Well guess what, iTunes needs this to be running in order to communicate with your audio device. Start it. There’s a link to start it along the leftmost column. Once it’s started, find a blank area within the services window, right click and hit refresh. Or just tap F5. Has the service died? If not, skip to step 7.
  6. The service died, didn’t it? Look for a ‘Windows Management Instrumentation’ service. This needs to be running for Windows Audio to be running, even though it’s not listed in the dependancies. Fire it up, then fire up Windows Audio.
  7. Fire up iTunes, and enjoy.
Secondly, you can open Control Panel and uninstall and then reinstall QuickTime. You can download QuickTime at this URL: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Third, you can try to reinstall iTune and allow any settings about playback and audio configuration with iTune during that.

Hope those helps.

What audio does your printer play?

If you lost audio services on your computer, open the administrative tools, find services, find audio, right click it and restart it. You might want to set it to automatic start.

No Audio Output Device Installed

Hi

To immediately fix these errors in Vista, start the Windows Audio service as follows:
  1. Click Start c00834869.gif , and enter services.msc into the Start Search field.
  2. From the list of services, right-click Windows Audio and select Start . Figure 23: Starting the Windows Audio service c00847914.gif
  3. The message should no longer open. If the message opens again after the computer is restarted, repeat these steps, select Properties for Windows Audio and set Startup Type to Automatic.
If you have XP on the computer, then click Start-->Run and then type "services.msc" in the Run window and then click OK and once you get the Windows Services screen, follow the above steps.
If this doesnt work and the sound card is not onboard or integrated, then reseat the sound card preferably into a different slot and repeat the above steps.
