SOURCE: Failure to boot

In these cases, I'd strongly recommend checking the RAM to ensure that isn't the problem. If the RAM is fine, then the issue is likely with the laptops motherboard. In which case, it would need to be sent back to the manufacterer.

SOURCE: Bios stuck on my toshiba L305D-S5934 it not doing

u can re-set the BIOS by removing the BIOS battery, the BIOS battery(wrist watch cell) is the size of a Dime inside the laptop, so you need to open the laptop, i suggets you visit a technician to do this.
Try doing the following also.
remove the power adaptor and remove the battery from the notebook, keep pressing the power button for 3 - 4 mins. Refit the battery / power and re-start.

Bios setting probleme

you can not press the F12 or F2 Key at startup ....You need to hold the key down abd bios will open of boot order if F12 is pressed.

So hold the key down(F2,F12) then press the power key...keeping the F key pressed down.

Good Luck

Linux mint 12 won't boot from CD

Restart your computer, press repetedly a key to enter BIOS, normally Del, go to Advanced BIOS Features probably and change to boot primarly from CD/DVD (1st Boot Device CD/DVD , or something like that), save and exit BIOS, and restart your computer with Linux Mint CD inside. Be aware that if you make wrong changes in BIOS, you could damage your computer.

I'm trying to help a friend install

After "Fast Boot" has been enabled, you cannot access the BIOS setup during power on . The machine will bypass "Press F2 to access Setup Utiltiy and F12 for Boot Menu" prompt.
This is a bigger issue if the hard drive crashes and access to Windows is not possible OR

Fast Boot can be enabled or disabled in the BIOS setup, or in HW Setup under Windows.
If you have Fast Boot enabled and you want to get into the BIOS setup. Hold down the F2 key, then power on. That will get you into the BIOS setup Utility.
You can disable the Fast Boot Option here. You will need to disable Fast Boot if you want to use the F12 / Boot menu.

I restarted my Toshiba satellite a305 and now it won't boot up or go into safe mode. It comes to the start up screen that says press f2 for setup f12 for boot manager. It will let me go into setup and boot...

If it won't let you go to safe mode, then there's something that the BIOS(setup) or Boot Manager needs before starting the operating system(Windows Vista). You should have a Toshiba Recovery Disk which will fix this . The disk will not touch any of your current files and data,so don't worry about that.

Im trying to open the boot menu in the toshiba 2140cds but when i see the toshiba icon and press boot menu the computer does nothing:P please help

I think pressing "F10" or "F12" should show the boot menu on boot up but if this fails the you will have to go into the setup (bios) and set it there (could be the "DEL" key or "F2" for setup).

Only booting after pressing f12 and select boot devise

Hi,
You must change the boot sequence from your BIOS.
To do this, when your computer starts press F1 or F2 until you enter the bios setup menu. Usually on Toshiba is F1 or Esc key.
Now that you are in the BIOS, you must locate the boot order section. Just go through every page until you see something like Boot Device, Boot Order, Boot Management, Boot Sequence, etc. (its different for each computer)
There, change the boot order to move the Hard Disk or DVD ROM in the top two items in the list.
Save your settings and exit the BIOS.
Your computer will restart and it should boot up normally.

Laptop A3 not booting up

Sounds like your hard drive is not booting and that your keyboard isn't responding to your pressing F2 and F12. If you can locate a USB external keyboard or if you have a round PS2 port for an external keyboard/mouse - plug into the laptop with that then press F12 while the computer is booting, press it a few times to be sure you get it in the buffer - then the boot manager should show up. If it does, choose to boot the Hard Drive if available - same with pressing F2 - Setup or Bios CMOS Settings should be displayed, here you can try to boot from the Hard Drive or Check to see if the hard drive is being recognized or not.

You may need a new keyboard if your laptop keyboard doesn't get you into either menu, and to either make sure your hard drive is responding and can be set to be the default boot device.
