Sometimes AVG is unable to update due to their servers being updated. Verify that you can go to free.avg.com. If you can go there and your program still refuses to update, re download a new installation package, run it, and do a repair installation on AVG. That should fix the issue. If it doesn't, uninstall AVG completely and then reinstall after you reboot 2x.

First of all I would suggest you that contact with your ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) If they say: everything is fine! then perform these tips to fix your issue:- - Update device drivers. - Check your Preferred DNS address. - Disable Firewall. - If you have Free-trial antivirus then uninstall it. - Uninstall p2p software's (uTorrent, BiTorrent, Team Viewer.) - Optimize internet setting's (must use reliable program PC Fresher for best result.) - Install latest Windows updates. - Restart PC.
Recently there have been problems with systems running Trend Micro 16 Internet Security blocking access to the Internet after an on line update.
SO far the simplest resolution I have found for this issue is to disable the Trend Micro Firewall, and enable this Windows Firewall. This restores access to the Internet in the normal mode and has no effect on the Antivirus Component of the software suite.
Trend has published the following fixes, but as yet I have not had any success using them.
If your pc is connected to the internet, I would recommend you Avira Antivirus free. This free antivirus is very effective and very updated. You can update the virus database daily or as you desire.
You can download one from here..
Avira Antivirus Free
Once it's activated, it's valid for more than 1 year.
If you do not have internet connection, what you could do is look for a computer with one or ask a friend that has connection and download an update form their site. Save the update to a disk and run it.
Here is the link to their update page: http://www.avast.com/download-update
I would agree that your PC could be virus infected. Your Norton could not detect the virus for 2 possible reasons; 1.) your Norton is not update or 2.) the virus is "unknown" even on the most recent Norton Antivirus.
If your Norton is not updated, you must download the update and your diagnostics once again. You may also try installing a second antivirus on your PC. I may recommend AVIRA as a second antivirus for its performance and it has a FREE version that you could readily install (http://www.avira.com/en/download/).
Your antivirus has an update feature. If there is no clear way to update, use the help menu of you antivirus to see how to do so. You connect to the Internet and hit update.
If you have non-free AV software, your license must still be valid to be able to update virus definitions.
Hope it helps.
