Broken main hose on Hoover uh70400 upright vacuum

The main hose got disconnected/detached from main part of the vacuum, the attachment was left behind in the vacuum and all there is on the one end is the hose itself. How do I repair this ?

Need help installing belt on Hoover self propelled upright vacuum

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover Ultra U6430-900 Wind Tunnel Bagged Upright. The best way to install the belt on a Hoover to replace one or both of the belts @ the same time for the best cleaning. The average belt change is every 4 to 6 months for best results. There is a tool that looks like a screwdriver that has a right or left angle on the end that serves as a belt puller and to hook the belt(s) onto the brushroll 1st and then take your puller and then pull or stretch the belt onto the motor pulley. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: where is schematics online to replace lower hose assembly part

There is no schematic that I am aware of. I can tell you that from experience that this repair is very difficult. Basicaly the upper and lower handle unscrew along with the tank base, the hood comes off. the lower handle will split but not comes completely apart to remove the hose section. When reassembling, be sure to put the back hose gasket in the correct position. Look at it (take a picture) prior to repair first.

SOURCE: Decreased suction at hose end

Yes, the "door" on the angle hose might not closing properly when the vacuum is in the upright position (if you look at the vacuum from the back, this hose connects the back to the bottom of the vacuum and it has a "door" at the very bottom end that is supposed to block suction to the lower part of the vacuum while upright) Check for a build up of linty stuff in the corner. The best way to access this is to remove the two screws on the clamp found at the top of the hose, (freeing the hose on top only), straighten hose so you can see inside to the end, and watch inside as you press the upright release lever. (awkward, but worth the effort) You should be able to see the door move -it should be completely open when the vacuum is not locked upright, and should be completely closed when upright. Remove anything that might be preventing it from closing - I used a flathead screwdriver. Hope this helps someone!!!!

SOURCE: Hoover Empower Widepath Vacuum Doesn't ****

This model requires the lower end of the hose to be installed into the base unit to pick up the dirt. If it is properly installed, I would check the belt and also look for a blockage. The normal life span of a belt is about 9-12 months. your belt # 40201190 2 pk

Why when I Pull out handle to use edging attachment, suction stops?

Make sure that the vacuum cleaner is in the fully upright position as there is a slide 'gate' thet directs suction to either the vacuum head or to the handle section depending as to which section you wish to use. In the upright position, you shoud be able to hear the vacuum at the handle where the attachments connect. If you still have vacuum at floor level, check the action of this gate. The actuating mechanism may be broken. Cheers Bob

Where do u attach the the hose to get suction for cleaning furniture?

Tried to track this down, but did not find anything specific. I did find a URL that shows the detachable hose with written instructions (very short) about attaching it to the unit. If you have the owners manual and go to the URL, you might be able to answer the question.

Connect or disconnect hose on upright vacuum

The hose has to be connected to engage the suction. To test this, is there suction in the hose when you turn the vacuum on? If so then the hose needs to be connected.

There should be a bottom plate covering the brush roll that you can remove, if you can't dig out the what is in there, try using your hose and suck it out from the bottom, maybe you will be able to get it out.

No vacuum suction during normal floor cleaning operation

That door is called a valve door, and it may have broken, part #38718013. Or the valve arm, rear broke, part number 38719048. The spring part # is 38358001. Usually it is the valve arm that breaks. You would have to take the top cover off, then you can see the parts.
