Use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router. Use this method for cases when
the administration password or IP address is not known.
Using the Reset button

To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing the administration password
or IP address, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel of the router.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

the defaults will be applied ie;

192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin

Cant seem to connect to WFC for a dsi game

Hi gabrielsa544,

Welcome to Fixya. Nintendo Dsi/DS/Ds XL connects to the internet using wireless connection. You need to know the settings of your router. I've listed below the steps on how you will access the router and to obtain the information needed for you to be connected.

How to access the Router:

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab check you Network Name or SSID. On the Security Mode you can check the security if you're using either WEP or WPA. Then you need to remember the Netowrk Key you can also personalize your Network Key. The Network Key serves as a password on your network to make it secure. Then Save the settings

Take Note of the SSID and the Network Key

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reson why we access the router.

4. Test the Connection

Thanks for using Fixya.

My ds lite cant connect to my netgear WGR614because it says its security settings are not supported by the ds

Hi eporre1,

If you're receiving that error message we need to access the Wireless Settings Page of your Router to change some settings. Keep in mind that if we change the settings of your wireless connection other machine that is connected to the network will be disconnected due to the new settings, so take note of the settings that we will be changing.

To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Settings Page try changing the encryprion to WEP 64bit and generate a Network Key. Remember the network key so that if you have laptops that are connected and will lose the connection that is the password that you need to input. If WEP 64bit wont work try WEP 128bit or WPA you can also disable the Security however you network can be access by others.

4. Test the Connection. If you have questions put a comment here.

Rate me if this helps so I can hep others. Thanks for using Fixya.

Limited to no activity

Hi,

You refering to Limited or No Connectivity. It only means that when your trying to connect wirelessly the Network Key that youve entered on the conmputer did not match the Network Key on the router. For you to access your router you need to type 192.168.1.1 to he address bar of your browser and it will ask you for a username and password. The default username is "leave it blank" and the default password is admin. Go to the wireless settings page check the SSID and the Network Key. Bare in mind that you can personalize your SSID and network key for you to easily remember it. Now that you already have the information needed go to your computer click on START then CONNECT TO, select the SSID of your router click on connect then enter your Network Key.

How can i put a password in my wifi for privacy

1. Access the Administration Panel of your Router This can be done by opening your internet browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) and typing in the address bar 192.168.1.1.
nitin_master.png Once you hit enter, an authentication panel would pop-up requiring you to enter a username and password.
nitin_master_0.png Note: If entering 192.168.1.1 does not bring up anything, your default gateway may not be that. For Windows, just go to Run command (Windows Start button, then click Run), and then type "CMD". A DOS prompt would pop-out and you would just need to type, "IPCONFIG". Look for the words "Default Gateway", the numbers beside it are the ones you need to enter into your browser
nitin_master_1.png Usually, its 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 so most likely you wouldn't have to do that. Note: The usual username and password is "admin" (without the quotes). For some routers, the username is admin, and the password is blank. If you haven't changed this, the username and password is the default. If you don't know the default username and password, you could check it at www.routerpasswords.com

2. Set the SSID or Username When you're inside the Administration panel, just go to Basic Wireless Settings and find the setting for Wireless Network Name or SSID.
nitin_master_2.png You should key in your desired username on the field of Wireless Network Name or SSID. Don't forget to Save the Changes you made.
nitin_master_3.png Note: Notice that I've enabled Wireless SSID Broadcast? If it's enabled, once a computer detects connects to your router, the computer would just need to key-in the password. If it's disabled, you would have to key-in the username and password before you could connect. Although it is more secure to set Wireless SSID broadcast set to disable, some of my devices (especially mobile phones) can't connect when it is disabled. So, I had to enable SSID Broadcast.

3. Set the Password. You should now go to Wireless Security. There you would see the Security Mode. To make things simple, just choose WPA Personal. (UPDATE: For bettery security, you can choose WPA2 Personal - the next steps would still be the same)
nitin_master_4.png You should now set a password by entering one under WPA Shared Key.
nitin_master_5.png After that, save the changes you made again. And there you have it. It's very easy to set a username and password for your Wireless Router or Wi-Fi router. Once you set one, only those who you have informed of the password would be able to connect and use your Internet connection through your Wireless router - so keep your password safe.

SSID Password

Hi...I am not sure if you need the SSID or the network key? The SSID is the network name, the one you see displayed in 'Available wireless networks'. The network key (also called passphrase, authentication key, PSK etc) is the one Windows asks for to connect to a secure network.

If you need the network key/passphrase:

1. Login to your router, by typing http://192.168.1.1 into a web browser (or whichever IP address is correct for your router).

2. You should see a popup box, requesting your username and password. If you have not changed these, they are username: admin and password: admin - otherwise please enter the username and password you have set.

3.If successful, you should now see your router user interface.
Go to Advanced > Wireless Security. If you are using WPA encryption, the network key (password) you need should be displayed under PSK string.
(Details taken from Dynamode UK website).

Hope this helps you, but please come back to Fixya if you need further help.

How do i hook up my ps3 to my network wirelessly

Make sure the same SSID and network key is configured on your PS3's wireless settings. To get the SSID and network key do the following steps.

1. Open your Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.1.1 on the Address Bar
2. It will prompt you for username and password. Type admin on the password, leave it blank for username. If admin password doesn't work, type your own password.
3. When you get to the Setup page of the router, go to Wireless tab. Take not of the SSID or the Wireless Network Name.
4. Now click the sub-tab Wireless Security that's under the Wireless tab. Take note of the Security Mode. If it is WPA-Personal, take note of the Shared Key or Passphrase. If the Security Mode is WEP, take note of the WEP key # 1.

5. Now all you need to do is access the Wireless Settings of your PS3 and configure manually the SSID and the Security Key. Then reboot the router and PS3. That should do it.

My Xbox 360 Says No Wireless Network, 192.168 takes me to ask.com!

I believe you are referring to the network key set on the Belkinrouter. Since you do not have the code, you will have to access yourrouter's web interface.

Let's begin with your router:

Using your working laptop, open Internet Explorer type 192.168.2.1 (default IP address of Belkin routers) press Enter. It will ask for a username and password - by default it'sadmin for both. If it does not accept admin, type in the username andpassword you set to your router when you installed it for the firsttime.

Once you open the setup page of the router, go to the Wireless tab ofthe router (located on the left side of the web interface. Look forSSID and WEP key or Network key (SSID is the name of your wireless network). Take note of the SSID and WEP keybecause you will need to set this on the XBOX console.

On the XBOX:

Open the dashboard settings - select Network Settings. Configure your XBOX to connect to your wireless network. When it ask for the network key - type in the code that you will see on the router's web interface.

Try the steps I mentioned, give us an update and I'll reply ASAP if you need further assistance.

Good luck and have a nice day!
