pardon my ignorance but i do not know which harness goes to the temperature control. if you can describe it please do so. If not i will send you a photo of the back board tomorrow. Thanks Al

Thank you for your contiued assistence. The only wire harness that seemed to make a difference was the one on the bottom right in the photo. When disconnected the board no longer clicked but the compressor still would not start. Is there some way to check the relay on the compressor, as recomended by "The Dog"? I will replace the board but i need to know where to buy one and try to be sure it is not just a guess before spending the money. It does not look to be an inexpensive item. Thanks again. Al

After checking the first 2 solutions and it still will not run I would check the relay on the compressor and make sure that is ok too.

I belive that is the main power for the bord so disconecting that would not make the unit run. I would try the small connector at the upper left. disconect that and see if it runs. And like I say check the compressor relay too. if it still wil not run, I would change the control bord.

Avanb, I can almost assure you that the control board is the problem. I'm assuming that the interior lights are on, but no fans and the compressor is not running. To make sure, first unplug the temperature control harness. (encoder). If the refrigerator starts running, replace the temperature control board (encoder board. If it doesn't start running, replace the main board in back. To remove the control panel, remove the 2 screws located on the bottom. Slide the panel down. Then just disconnect the harness to the temperature control. Catriver.

Al, unplug the harness that goes to the temperature control inside the refrigerator section. One harness will be for the lights, the other for the controls. If the refer starts, your problem is in that control. If it doesn't start, the problem is the main board on the back side of the refer. Catriver.

You can put a jumper wire on the blue harnes on the bottom of the board. Use some alligator clips. Jump Line to compressor and plug the refer back in. If the compressor starts, Its the main board you pictured. When I said to disconnect the temp control harness. I meant the one inside the refrigerator where the temperature controls are. Two screws and it slides down. Unplug the control harness. If the unit starts. Its that control. If not it's probably the main board. Jump line and compressor. They will be marked. Line, comp. The main power is the blue harness, jump it like I said and you will find out if the overload and relay is good. The small harness in the upper left is the communication input/output. This has to do with the dispenser assy. In my first post, I said the control board would more than likely be your problem. To make sure I gave you instructions to iliminate the encoder so there is no guessing. Some one else jumped in and set you in a different direction. Catriver

IF THE FAN IS CUTTING OUT U MAY HAVE STUCK TIMER IN THE DEFROST CYCLE MODE BUT MORE LIKELY U HAVE A POWER ISSUE, IS THIS A digital cold control thermostat? if so the control board itself may not be communicating with the thermostat, when the fan cuts out does the compressor keep running? and no clicking sounds?

The problem is most likely the condensor fan motor is starting to fail. This is easy to check, First remove the back cover and when the compressor is running you should have voltage going to the fan motor if you do the fan motor needs replacing if not then the main board would be at fault here is a link that should help

Clicking noise in the circuit board and everything in the freezer is thawed

Hi. this will be a failed relay on that circuit board. This is called the PCB(main unit power control board). This board controls the compressor relay functions, and the compressor power current, as well. The evaporator fan, and condenser fan, receives their respective current from this power control board, also. When a circuit board of this nature begins to malfunction, it will cause the unit to not cool properly, due to limited, or no fan actions, or a failed compressor cycle. I would recommend to replace this damaged control board, asap.

Something has malfunctioned on *********** control board part number WR55X10942 This board controls most functions of the refrigerator. It would be simple to say change the board but this is the first time I have seen one affect so many different controls that I recommend that a service technician come out and make sure that something other that that board is not affecting the other controls on your refrigerator. Please let me know what the technician finds, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Penguin model 610012-001a/c compressor won't start

I would check to make sure that the control is sending the "cool" signal to the control unit. LO on the room temp display usually means that the fan speed is set to low. Is LO and Auto showing on the display at the same time. Try resetting the thermostat first. Hold down the Mode and Zone buttons with the tstat off. While holding them down, turn the tstat back on and hold the buttons down until FF appears on the screen. Release the buttons and try the AC.
If this does not work, on the control board is a freeze control switch plug (blue usually). Try unplugging this unit and insert a small jumper wire. If the Compressor comes on and runs then you have a bad freeze control switch. If not, then you should replace the control board.

Hope this helps,

Amana Side by Side, freezer not cooling adequately

first make sure the fridge has not frozen over if there is ice on the walls it will screw the system that determines how cold it is up. if this is the case empty the fridge unplug and use a hair dryer to carefully speed up the thawing process. usually this happens during warm and humid seasons.

if this is not the case then see below and you might need a professional appliance service to perform the below unless you are fairly skilled

The temperature control thermostat directs voltage to the compressor, evaporator fan motor, and condenser fan motor (if applicable). If the temperature control thermostat is not working properly, it may cause the refrigerant system to run longer than necessary. As a result, the refrigerator will be too cold. To determine if the thermostat is defective, rotate the thermostat from the lowest setting to the highest setting and listen for a click. If the thermostat clicks, it is not likely defective. If the thermostat does not click, use a multimeter to test the thermostat for continuity. If the temperature control thermostat does not have continuity at any setting, replace it.
The thermistor monitors the air temperature and sends the temperature reading to the control board. The control board then regulates power to the compressor and evaporator fan based on the thermistor readings. If the thermistor is defective, the compressor and evaporator fan may run too frequently. As a result, the refrigerator will be too cool. To determine if the thermistor is defective, test it with a multimeter. The thermistor resistance should change in conjunction with the refrigerator temperature. If the thermistor resistance does not change, or the thermistor does not have continuity, replace the thermistor.

your sensor to the fan is stuck in the closed position. This sensor kicks the fan on when a certain temp is reached in the heat chamber. It opens after cool down and apparently is stuck closed.
