Question about HP Pavilion Slimline s3700y Desktop, 2.6GHz Athlon 64 X2 (B) 5000, 3GB, 320GB, DVD+/-R/RW 16X 12X +/... (NC689AAR)
I lost my recovery disc that I made when I purchased my Pavillion Slimline. Now I need one and can't get one from HP and I refuse to pay them for an on-line repair of $99. Do you know of anywhere I can get another disc or a copy?

The DVD drive should have one or two small phillips head screws on the side that will allow you to slide the drive out through the front of the PC. Just be careful that you don't damage the ribbon cable when you do this.

Just unscrew, remove the entire CD ROM, fix the RAM properly and while connecting the CD ROM ensure that all connections are snug tight...sodeep

you must go to bios and change boot sequence from harddrive first to cd first. When you start your pc it always go to harddrive and freezes up. when you change boot sequence it will only go to cds first then follow directions.

Sounds like the motherboard might be bad but go thru these steps.
Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at at time and turn on the computer after each stick reinsertion.
If that doesn't get the video to come back up then go ahead and unseat and reseat the CPU. Then try turning on the computer.
If that doesn't do it, make sure there is no power going to the hard drive or the dvd drive. Then try turning on the computer.
If you do all of these steps and you still have no video, then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.
