Question about Sansui COM311AD 13 in. Combo
The Vcr won't stop running and it wont play a tape either. It has a constant whirring sound even when the TV is playing Also, the letters D E W are on the screen. Can you Help me?
There is what is called a "dew sensor" in a lot of vcr's that keep you from playing a tape if it senses moisture in the unit because a tape will stick to the video head and get all bunged up. sometimes they go bad and will keep you from playing a tape even when there is no moisture present. if your are electronically inclined you can take the back off and locate the dew sensor, then disconnect it. the constant whirring noise is the unit's way of trying to dry off the video head cylinder. the dew sensor, which is usally located behind the video head, is a dark grey thing about a half inch by half inch and has two wires going to it.
