It sounds like a DVD drive error. When the center light inside the "ring of light" blinks rapidly it thinks the DVD drive is either open or not connected. You can buy a new DVD drive off Ebay for a decent price or take it to a professional shop. When changing the DVD drive you have to also put the original PCB from the old drive onto the new one or it will not play games. It will play DVD's all day but no games. There is a bit of soldering involved. If your not confident you can make the repair check out this site for help. www.jbgaming.com they do good work and are very reasonable.
you cant make the xbox multiregion. The only way to play other region discs is to flash the firmware of the dvd drive and then the xbox gets instantly banned, plus you will only be allowed to play that regions games. So if you flashed a european xbox with say japanese then you could only play japanese games not european. If you jtagged the xbox then you can play any region no problems, but again it would get banned , only older xboxes can be jtagged and they are hard to find and not cheap to buy
Best bet is to buy an original xbox for whatever region to play the games
Might be a faulty power supply mate , when you turn the xbox on observe the power indicator on the power brick. Green means its okay
Amber means the console is in standby
Red means the Brick has had it.
Try a friends power brick to see if it does the same.
If your xbox is stuck in standby, you've got some issue. Unless you pressed the "standby" button on your router while playing Halo 3 at a weak attempt to try and cheat other players, and then your xbox 360 became stuck in "standby"mode, I have no idea what you are talking about. Elaborate. And if this occurred after prressing standby while playing Halo 3, you probably deserve having a broken xbox 360 since you were probably trying to cheat against me! As for the guy who's life revolves around Call of Duty, you have to stop playing sometime. Either when the console actually breaks from all the cheezy poofs and mountain dew you place on it or M$ poorly designs the xbox 360's to do this intentionally.
There is a small button in the front of the Xbox and all you ahve to do is hit the button and hold the controller infront of the xbox it will then sink all controllers turned on and you should only have to do that once. It worked for me i hope it works for you.'
