Question about TV Receivers & DVRs

1 Answer

I've had a phillips 1200 video sender to send Sky+ up to my bedroom for the past 6 months. This worked perfectly for the first 5 months then in the last month its become a battle of wills with our neighbour over what we can watch in the bedroom. The picture is still perfect but the sender is recieving both my remote signal and next doors. I'm pretty sure they've bought a similar device recently and this is why its happening. If I remove the dangly ir lead placed in front of the sky box the problem ceases but obviously then can't then change the channel from the bedroom. Is there any way I can solve their sky remote changing our sky box channel without removing the ir lead or is there anything on the market within a reasonable price band that works better. Thanks dave

Most equipment that is common to everyone has a menu to change the remote address. This is different from the code. I'm not familular with your spacific box, so this might not avalible for you in which case stand outside you neighbors house and change their channel. Wait to see what they do. This may be cheaper if you can't just change the address. Haha

Sky box problems

Power off unit, unplug from wall, reconnect and clean sender unit on end of the remote, use smart phones camera to view the end of the remote when you push a button, you should see a change in color on the remotes eye, if not try new batteries again, retest, still no signal, try the other remote.

Quality loss is common when running through multiple connections.
Try installing a booster where one of the connections is located. Also one of the cables could be damaged or running close to power cables (i think this can sometimes cause problems.)
Found this site whilst trying to find info to help you and thought it might be of use to you:

Nikkai 2727 Video sender will not send signals from my sky+ box. The scart lead is plugged into the Video out, but even when i plug it into the TV out it still doesnt work. I know the Transmitter and...

check that you have the sender plugged into the sky box and the receiver into the required tv and not the other way round. The wrong way round still allows the controller to change channels but you will see nothing also ensure that both sender and reciever are on same channel 1 to 4

Have you got a magic eye in the bedroom,if so the little red light should be on,if it is not then you are not getting a signal from the main box.You need to check the 2nd rf output is switched on in the main box.

I have obtained a pace TDS470N sky satelite

If the sky box is connected to a working telephone line then you can press the following buttons on the remote to pair the card up with the box.

Services.
4
0,1, Select,
6 (new installation)

Press the SELECT button on the remote when prompted. This will start with a channel scan then it will ask you to press Select and then it will do a CALL BACK. This will try and pair the card with the box. If this fails try a couple more times if still no joy then you will have to call the sky call centre and get them to send the signals and get this pair up for you.

I've notice that your user name is JIM SPAIN if you are in spain with a Sky Satellite receiver. What you will have to do rather then the above. Is get the person who is registered with the box back in the uk to call Sky call centre and when you get through to the technical department. (normally india) you would have to provide them with: address in the uk, and some other details then they can send the signal to the box along with the viewing card number that way they will not know that you have taken the box out of the country.

Hope this helps Jim.
If it has helped clarify things please leave a thumbs up

Hi, i have just bought a logik wireless av sender so send my sky signal to the tv in the bedroom. the instructions in the manual are very basic and i cant get it to work. any ideas. on the tv in the...

Red and white are only Audio ports.

IF there is a scart port plug your av receiver into the scart. Take note on which number your on ie channel there should be several numbers you can choose on your tx/rx then go down stairs to your sky box and ensuring that you are on the same number as the one upstairs.
Then just plug it into the back of your sky Box.. the number on your sender are incase your getting interfearance from other sources in the home. have a play with this and see what works best

Hope this Helps

Tivo HD displays ''hdmi connection not permitted''

This happened to me many times with my Sharp 40" LCD. I am actually running 2 tvs of of 1 HD Tivo. One in the bedroom with HDMI and then through the wall into my kitchen tv via Component. ( yes whatever is on in the bedroom plays in the kitchen).. So this AM my power dropped out for a few seconds then came back on. When the Tivo rebooted I got that " hdmi connection not permitted" message. In the past, I would just reboot everything and all would be ok.. But today I couldnt get the tv with the HDMI to display the programming. It would show the tivo menus, but when I tried to play anything or watch live tv, the message would pop up again. The kitchen TV with the components was working the whole time...
So finally I rebooted the Tivo one more time. But this time I left the HDMI cable unplugged from the Sharp in the bedroom untill the Tivo was fully booted and a live channel was playing in the kitchen. I then plugged the HDMI back into the bedroon TV, and it came back on. Im not saying this will work for you, But its worth a try
