Question about Arris Wireless G Broadband Router (wr850g)

1 Answer

I cannot access my router

I just upgraded my Comcast modem to the Arris TM822 model. I turned off my PC, router, and modem, hooked it up, and booted them in the correct order. However, I cannot access the router, and am given no gateway to access it on my ipconfig. Also, the wireless portion of my router is completely off now, despite being on with the old router. I tried resetting the modem and router multiple times with the depressed reset buttons, to no avail. At least once a day I have to re boot my router so my wireless gear can pick up the signal. Why?l

After checking ALL cables and reseating connections, checking for bent pins, Contact Comcast have them analyze the signal. And have a Comcast Tech come out and trace the signal through the house. It may be outside. I had a similar issue, the problem was outside, a underground box had been run over by a big lawn mower damaging the box allowing water to enter.

How to hook up to a ARRIS router with comcast

All I did was put a spliter at a the end of the phone line that plugs into the modem. Next I ran a line to the arris and another to the fax machine off the spliter. Very simple.

Problem with my Arris Comcast cable modem.

I just had a tech out yesterday regarding this problem on a TM402 - restarts under high network saturation (big uploads or downloads). According to the tech, this is a know issue. Comcast upgraded their network to support multiple carriers (called channel bonding) dynamically. Due to this upgrade, when your modem is demanding high bandwidth for large downloads, essentially, it requests an additional carrier (or channel)...when that request is initiated, the modem's hardware (and firmware) can't connect to more than one channel at a time, therefore, it "gets confused" and restarts itself to attempt to fix the problem. I upgraded to the TM602, and the problem is still there. This is because the channel bonding feature requires a Docsis 3.0 capable modem. The Arris TM702 is the first in the Arris line to offer docsis 3.0. I called Comcast and they are upgrading me to the Arris TM702 (which is a 50M down/10M up service, btw) for an additional $30/month - well worth it for the stability which I require.

As far as Comcast saying that it's fine, call them back with the information I provided, and ask to get you to a tech who can better service your needs...unfortunately, the "tier 1" techs don't have a clue.

Trying to install router for wireless

If that's hooked to comcast you can only have one computer hooked up to it, and no modems as they block mac address. If you are a Comcast customer there is a workaround. Turn on your wife's wireless if she hasit, if not get her a wireless card USB is easiest. Turn on sharing on that wireless card and you will be able to access the internet through your wifes computer, and not run afoul of your Comcast agreement. Or request an upgrade to a wireless router from Comcast but your rent goes from $3.00 per month to $10.00!

Cannot make a wireless connectiio work with Comcast internet

- Once you already configured the settings on your router, and 2nd step that you do now is to power cycle the modem and the router completely for about a minute.
Note:
- You must also remove the battery back up of your cable modem in order to refresh the settings on it.
- After the power cycling procedure, turn On 1st the modem and make sure all the link lights on your modem are completely stable before you turn On the router.

This could be a duplex issue. When you log into the belkin does is assign you an IP address? Have you used a ballpoint pen to reset the EMTA since you have connected the router?

I have arris tm502g modem n want to hook up 2nd pc wont work

You need a router or network switch to share the single connection from this cable modem. Wireless router if you're so inclined. Comcast is about to jack the rental rate for that modem from $3.50 to $5 on January 1, at least in Atlanta.
