Xbox 360 disc drive error

Hi. My Xbox 360 disc drive has been acting up lately. I had been standing the 360 upright ever since I got it and it worked just fine. About a few months ago its disc drive would hesitate when I'd push the button to open it. Well, a friend of mine told me to lay it down on its side and it wouldn't do that. Well, I did that and the disc drive didn't do that for about six months. Now, it's doing it again. It doesn't do it as much as it did when I had the console upright but it still does it. Any solutions?

Re: Xbox 360 disc drive error

You can open the box and take the lid off the drive and bend it very slightly as to ad clearence. Common with Samsung drives in the xbox 360 consoles.

Re: Xbox 360 disc drive error

Sounds like a mis-stamped peice of plastic, aside from getting a new drawer for the drive there is little to do.

Why wont my xbox 360 elite read discs? i put disc in and it comes up reading and then open tray

My only questions are does the console say the discs are damaged in any way? and is the console standing up right?
If the discs are scratched in any way then that might cause the 360 to not read the disc and sometimes having a console play the disc upright (example of upright 360) for a long time can cause dis function when trying to play discs, so try playing the discs with the console on its side (side example) These are my solutions to the problem but you can try these: Solution 1 Solution 2

How to resolve Xbox 360 disc read errors. Xbox will not play disc.

Is your xbox360 having trouble reading disc? In this guide I will provide some common solutions to help you fix your disc read issues.

1)Remove any memory devices or usb flash drives.
2)If the disc you are using is excessively scratched, this can cause the xbox to have trouble reading the disc. You can use a damp soft cloth to try and clean the disc. Grab the disc by the edges and using a soft damp cloth lightly wipe the disc from the center going outward.

3)Try removing your Xbox hard drive and then play a disc. Turn off the console. Locate the hard drive on the top of your system(depending on how you have it positioned). Press the release button on the hard drive.

If your system can read disc without the hard drive attached then you may need to replace the drive.

4)Clear the Xbox360 cache. Clearing the cache may remove updates to certain games. Keep this in mind.
Go to System Settings in the My Xbox menu. Select Memory, highlight your storage device and select Clear System Cache. Try and play the disc.

If after the above steps you are still having trouble. You may want to contact Microsoft Xbox live support to have your system serviced. You can find the support information in the link below,

How to keep your xbox from getting rrod

over the past few months i have noticed allot of xbox 360s are in need of getting R ROD problem sorted, its usually easy to fix by the use of an xbox clamp kit (under no circumstances use the towel trick) this will fix it but not for long it will inevitably destroy your xbox here's how ive never had it with my own 360 allot of people like there xbox standing upright ,keep it flat in turn you wont damage your discs if it gets knocked over or nudged don't sit your xbox on top of another device ie a dvd player or a video player or next to a heater, keep your xbox as low to the ground as possible heat rises so the lower the better but not on a carpet (preferably on a hard flat surface to allow a good air flow) and don't cover the air vents of your 360 with game boxes or discs your just asking for trouble, and finally get a big hard drive and install your games to it instead of running them from the dvd rom drive which generates more heat good luck and have fun gaming

Disc drive is out, needs replaced, but inorder to replace it you must keep the original drive. You can either order one online and follow these instructions to do it ureself (recommended) or email for a pricing for repair.

Put in disc and then it says open drive. Recently

If your Xbox 360 will not play your games this is because of the sensors on the back of the drive overheating it is not normally the laser.

Luckily you can fix this yourself and get back to your games and to do this you need the proven Xbox 360 Repair guide.

Or you can send it in and they will fix it for you the repair will take about 4 weeks.

This is getting to be more of a common error of late.

On my psp my games won't work

Almost at the same time the Xbox 360 was released in late 2005, consumers began reporting rounded scratches found on discs used in their Xbox 360 consoles. Almost two years later, in February 2007, the website "The Llamma's Adventures" investigated the matter and concluded that some Xbox 360 drives lack a mechanism to secure the disc solidly in place.
