Do you have to break off tab when installing combination device

The switch/receptacle pictured can be wired a number of ways. If you want to switch the attached receptacle you will leave the tab on between the brass colored screws and attach your HOT wire to the brass screw on the opposite side. The bare or green ground wire will attach to the ground screw. The white Neutral wire will attach to the silver colored screw.

My dog chewed the cable near the middle of the cable below the volume adjust. any repair???

Carefully strip back the outer insulation you should see different color coded wires just carefully strip the wires back to make a condictor connection and match them by color and use electrical tape to insulate them once tied together . If the wires aren't color coded find an old walkman plug the headset into it and just try different combinations until you figure out the wiring.

On the Marshall 5 button footswitch for the TSL, there are 7 wires in the cable, 6 of which are clearly labeled by color on the circuit board in the footswitch. The brown must be combined with another wire...

Only 6 wires are used by the amp. Tie the brown wire to the metal frame to act as shielding if anything. You will probably find that the brown wire either connects to the shell of the connector or to nothing.

I'm wanting to install a combination outlet/switch device. Both will work off the same circuit but be independent of each other. I want the light to work from the switch, with the outlet constantly hot. ...

How many sets of wires are coming into the box?
If the box is in the middle of the circuit you will have a power-source black & white wire coming in and a power-source black & white wire going out. And in this case for the switch - there must be a black and a white wire going to a light.

Typically with a switch/outlet combination all the white wires will splice together with a white pig-tail wire to feed the neutral side of the device. The two black wires from the power-source will splice together with a black pig-tail and feed the hot-side of the device. The black wire going to the light will go on one side of the switch.

Looking at outlet/switch device from the front the large slot side of the outlet will be the neutral side and the smaller outlet slot will be the hot side. The neutral side screws will be steel colored and the hot side screws will be brass colored. The white wires will go to the neutral side steel colored screws, and the black wires will go on the hot side brass colored screws on the outlet.

The black wire comig into the box from the light is called a switchleg and goes to a brass screw on one side of the switch. The brass screw on the otherside of the switch will be for the black wire coming from the power-source.

Hope this helps - and please:

Inside the speaker cabinet, is blue wire positive or negative?

Hi, It all depends on the combination of the wires inside the cabinet.

It can be Blue and white ,and another color combination.

But the blue color is always Positive , While the White is negative.

To test, you can use a battery to check. When you put the blue wire on positive, you will notice the clarity of sound that comes out, other than when you use the white as positive.

Hope that helps.

You can write back if you need more help on that.

Thanks for using fixya......

I accidentally pulled wires out and forgot to label them while replacing the convergence chips and now i have no idea where they go. Is there a diagram or anything visual to show me where they go?

If you will misplace them - it's not going to damage anything in several minutes after turning on your TV. Mark them like 1, 2 3. Remember position of sockets on the board. You better use piece of paper and start write down combinations. put them in any position (actually you can see how wires can be put in most "natural" position). Start TV, push "menu" button and check image out. If colors way too apart - try another combination. There is not too many of them anyway. Before you start - check id sockets are marked with some colors like green red or blue. Appropriate socket always marked on the board with name "green" etc. After some manipulations you will be able to find combination that brings colors more closely together than others. Another tip - green socket normally between red and blue. Find wires that connected to the middle CRT (green projection tube) and plug it into the middle socket. figuring out red and blue will be just worst case scenario in two attempts.
Regards.
Russ.

Can you tell me where the outgoing wires are going to. Bare wire is ground goes in green color screw, white wire is neutral and goes in silver color screw, black wire is hot or live and goes in gold color screw. It is difficult to help you with little information. how do you know what is incoming and outgoing.
