Remember to always put the V side of belt (inside of belt) into the pulleys and put the flat side of belt (outside of belt) up against the idler pulley (the one that moves to make belt tight to engage blades) Make sure you have the right belt and follow those guidelines and the belt should go right on. If you happen to have alot of slack then you have to figure out a different routing around the idler. Make sure the blades are NOT engaged. When on properly the belt will be snug.
Let me know if this helps.

Since you didn't ask any question or say what you wanted to know about the belt, you can go to johndeereparts.com , click on parts catalog, enter your model number, click on sectional index and the click on Belt drive and Idlers for which ever transaxle you have. It will show you a very clear picture of the belt and its routing, also gives you the part numbers for each

If traction drive belt is turning you should check the input drive shaft on top of trans to see if it is turning as well,Traction drive belt is suspect but could be a stripped out input shaft pulley.Make sure the machine tow lever is not pulled out, rear of machine by tow hitch. Also pull rubber caps off of both axle ends to see if one the axles is turning free inside of rim,if so remove wheel and replace axle key.
