Question about Compaq Pesario S4120WM (DK216AR#ABA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

CD DVD Code 41

It all sorta started once I used Tweak UI and at the same time I also started using the flash drive. In both the Presario lap - with one dvd and a Dell Demension desktop with two dvd. Both units issued Code 41, the correct drivers are listed. But the computers are not successfully entering a drive letter. What cha think? our compaq presario doesn't recognize the dvd player anymore, yet if I unistall it - turn off the computer - it recognizes it as new hardware, say's it has installed the hardware but the device is not connected. I checked all the cables - they are snug and secure, the jumper is in the right spot - just isn't recognized as a drive. I know it's something simple, but I can't think of the solution

Try This:

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

Dvd won't eject. It lights up flashing like wants to open. I tried to eject dvd every way possible ie., computer link, etc

All CD / DVD drives have a Eject Pin Hole. The only thing we need is a paper clip to use it

krishtam1_dh_8.jpg
All we have to do is bend it at the first curve 180 degrees (straitening it out). Then take the second curve and bend it 90 degrees. Now we need to locate the Eject Pin Hole.

krishtam1_dh_9.jpg
Laptop - Notebook CD / DVD drives:
The trays on laptops/notebooks are spring loaded, so all that is needed is to release the locking mechanism. You do not have to insert the paper clip as far as with a desktop CD / DVD drive, as you are not connecting to the gearing under the tray. Gently insert the paper clip into the Eject Pin Hole. Once you feel it make contact, gently push in and the tray will eject immediately. Once done, gently push the tray back inward until it locks back into place.

krishtam1_dh_10.jpg

Desktop CD / DVD drives:
Gently insert the modified paper clip into the Eject Pin Hole until you feel it make contact with the gear underneath the tray. Firmly pressing inward, you will notice the tray to start to move out. Press inward until you have enough room to get your finger under the tray and then pull it out the rest of the way. If you can only get a small portion of the tray out, you can use the other end of the paper clip to gently pry open the tray enough to get your finger under it. Once done, gently push back the tray to the closed position. It will close firmly when the system is powered up.

I have a secound hand rm mobile one 945 laptop with disc drive what model disc drive will fit this laptop

I dont understand your question. You have a used laptop with a removable disc drive and you want to replace it with the same? Or is your drive missing?

Your best bet may be to get an external drive that connects via USB. But then, that sorta defeats the idea of a lap top.

I have a compaq presario SR2150NX and i need to replace the CD drive. What should i buy

The solution is that do not replace the cd drive !!
You could buy a new DVD writer drive which can be very useful.
You can use both "cd drive" and the new "dvd drive" at a time.
New DVD drive comes only for rs.1200/- to 1500/- .(LG,Samsumg or moserbaer).

Yes ! you can operate them normally as usual.
Only call your computer engg. to make connections or the shopman to fit the dvd and cd drive.

I want to restore my laptop to factory settings. I have a compaq, presario v4000 but it did not come with a system restore cd.

baby,
There is an option to make system restore disk for your Lap.
Goto Start->Program -> HP Recovery -> Create System recovery.
WARRNING: its one time runnign software. So use good quality DVD to make your recovery DVD and keep it safe.
It might take 2-3 DVD so be patient as it will take time.
  • After creating DVD, make copy of all your important documents/file to any where like flash memory/CD or DVD as all the files and softwares will be deleted which you have installed/copied or saved after first boot.
  • Then re-start your lap with the created first recovery DVD.
  • Follow the on screen instructions...

There is also a way to run your recovery from your HDD.
  • Keep pressing F9 after booting your lap till Boot Selection menu appears. Select Recovery and follow the on screen instructions. But before recovery make all backups of your important data.

If any question just..Ask me.

Thanks
Iqbal

CD DVD Code 41

Hi

This is a known issue. A lot of burning programs, and tweak tools have a habit of screwing Window's Registry, XP's in particular.

To fix the condition we need to delete a few Windows Registry Keys. As always be careful with Windows registry.

CAUTION: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.

NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software.

Restart your computer.

Code 39 for dvd drive

You can solve this problem by going to start, then run, type regedit. open hkey_local_machine, then system, then control, then class, then 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318, once in this go over to the right hand side and delete upper filters and then lower filters. restart your computer and your dvd/cd-rom drive will work properly, if you look in device manager there will no longer be a question mark and it will tell you all is working correctly.
