I am trying to setup this Linksys WRT54GL router. I go through the setup process. The wizard says that it is checking the system and then prompts for a password. I have input the password admin. It then just keeps looping between checking the system and prompting for a password. How can I rectify this.

Re: Cannot complete setup
Did you set new admin password in your setup? If not, just type user: admin and 'blank' password (do not fill the password. If yes, and you can't log in using your new admin password, try to reset your router with push reset button (small black button in the back side of router). Follow the reset procedure that found in the manual.

You are looking for DHCP server. It provides the IPs addresses for devices to connect. DNS resolves the IP into a name. Not really required unless you are setting up a virtual server, or the special setup.
The CD Setup wizard will fail to complete the installation or sometimes
fail to run at all because antivirus, anti-spyware or PC firewall is
blocking the installation process.
To ensure a successful installation from the CD Setup Wizard, make sure
all security tools are temporarily disabled before the installation
begins. Enable back the antivirus, anti-spyware or software firewall
once the installation is completed.
NOTE: If setup still fails to complete, check that you
have selected the correct operating system in the setup options. You may
also try restarting the computer and reinstalling from the CD if the
setup fails to complete the first time. If all else fails, try searching
for your device model at http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/ and clicking on Get Downloads to download the latest firmware.
Hi, Make sure that the computer is connected to the router properly and there is not loose conection. If it good then check the IP address on that computer. Make ssure that there is static IP address on the computer. The default gateway number will be the IP address to access the router set up. If you do not get IP address and if it says media disconected then try to disable the Local area connection and enable it. If that doesn't work then try on another computer. Verify File and Print Sharing is installed for the wireless network card on each computer.
Try pinging each computer.
Try doing Start, Run, and in the browse line type \\and the ip address other computer. For example, if computer B has the ip address of 192.168.1.3 from computer A, do Start, Run and type in \\192.168.1.3 to see what that brings up.
the whole internet is ran on "linux" or "unix" .. your computers will run fine with this router no matter what operating system. instead of using a cd to set it up goto the router configuration page in your web browser http://192.168.1.1/ the default login and pass is ussually no login and admin for the password. You can change that once in the setup. hope this helps out, good luck
