Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

My PS3 was fine and fast when I bought it. Now all the games are glitchy aswell as the system menu. I have had it for 3 years. Sometimes the game stops for a few seconds then continues, or the sound will be glitchy, or it will take ages to load. I have tried restoring database and file system on safe mode but neither work. Can any one help me, please. It is really effecting my enjoyment and faith of my PS3. I would really appriciate if someone could help me, thank you.

Sometimes, a system just will NOT work like it used to due to corrosion and the aging of the system. If you use the network, some cyber-trolls may be the cause.

SOURCE: PS3 having trouble reading game discs!!!

hey guys. the problem is that the blue ray reader is some how broken and it won't work. mine kept freezing during games like after 3 mins. and it wouldnt read any more discs for that day. you need to change the blue ray reader and that costs about 175$. thats alot of money and its probably not worth it.

SOURCE: PS3 games freezing isssue

WOW! Firstly, Thank you for the very descriptive description. Secondly, This is a VERY specific issue! I believe that some of the COD issue is "game specific". Like the dialog issues and the lagging. I've seen MANY problems & complaints with COD games. Especially 4. These problems aren't going to go away or get better. But, I'm sure you know that. Since your console is out-of-warranty, I'd strongly recommend contacting "PSR Repairs" You can get a gangster deal on their work.
My console died 14 months after purchase. I bought the extended warranty through WalMart. It almost seems that PS3's run flawless for the year it's under manufactures warranty. Anyway, PSR fixed it. It took about a month, but I got a new hard drive & new Blu Ray lens. It lasted a week & developed a new issue; The picture would pixalate & then I'd get the Yellow Light Of Death! I sent it back for repair. Josh with PSR called to tell me that since the work was starting to surpass the value of the unit, Sony is going to send me a brand new (non-refurbished) unit!
So, my advice is to get your Babe over to PSR asap. www.psr1.com . There's really no other way to comfront all the issues you're having! Good luck!

My ps3 won't play my disk-based games

This sounds a similar problem what I had. My PS3 did not start the disk based games. Those disk based games were not visible in the game menu.

I did not have problems with the normal movie DVDs or Movie Blu Rays. Those were working fine. Also downloaded games were working ok.

In case you have the similar problem, you should try the following steps;

The PS3 has a special Recovery Menu, which you can access in the following way;:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION 3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 System

Select option "Rebuild Database".

After PS3 has executed the DB rebuilding operation, the disc games will be visible again in the menu and are starting automatically when inserted to PS3.

My PS3 wont display the menu

A lot of PS3's are getting errors lately... but I thought it had something to do with the newer updates. You are not connected to internet so that can't be the problem.
Those waves might be caused by your sound/vision/stereo cables that connect your game system and TV. See if one of them is loose. (you know the ones that are white and blue and red or yellow and all that)
