SOURCE: SD Card in Nikon F10 not recognised by XP

It could be one of two problems. The most likely is that the card reader you are using cannot read SDHC cards, of which all 4GB and larger cards are. Try using the camera's cable to download to your computer directly to the USB port. I bet you'll find that it works that way. The other problem could be (but not likely) that you are shooting on the RAW file format, instead of the jpeg file format. Most software cannot recognize RAW files, but jpeg is pretty universal.

SOURCE: nikon coolpix s51 digtal camera memory card says can not be used?

hi..
There is a tab on the memory card so you will you need to remove it from the camera and change the position of this tab to "unlock" it.
You need to unlock the card itself. Take it out and look for a tab on the left. It should be pushed up.

thank u

SOURCE: Nikon Coolpix L11 Memory Card Error

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Try formatting the card in the camera, not the computer.

You didn't say what software you are using, but there are better ways to download your photos. The best way is to connect your SD flash memory card to the computer. If your computer has a SD card slot you are in luck. If not, you can buy a USB SD reader for under $20 on line or in any computer store.

To use it, remove the SD card from your camera and insert it in the reader. Your computer will automatically recognize the SD card as an external memory device; exactly as it does with an external hard drive. You can then open the SD card and access the folder with your pictures. All you need to do is copy and paste your photos from the SD card to a new folder on your computer. It's that simple. Almost all professional photographers use this method and do not transfer pictures from the camera with the SD card in the camera.

Change the SD Card, because it might be corrupted or writing speed was not enough.
For Nikon D5100, it is recommended to use SD HC Class 10 card.

Can not locate write-protect switch

Open the access door and remove your SD card. Hold the card with the label facing you and the angled corner to the top right. Look along the left edge and you will see the very small slide switch. Down is the locked position and up is the unlocked position.

Can not locate write-protect switch

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Sd card won't click into place on my Nikon d60

Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)
