Recently, ciruit breaker tripped once, reset the power and was operation normally producing ice for a day or so. Last night, circuit breaker tripped again, so I reset the power. But, now, circuit breaker trips after water supply cycle is done for several tries.

Seems to me the problem is related to the water pump. Focus on testing the amperage on one of the wires going to the water pump. If you take the pump out to test it may be easier. I bet the windings are going out in the pump or it is shorting to ground. Not a good idea to hold the pump in your hand if the pump should be shorting to ground. Thanks JT

One of three things are most likely causing this. The water pump, condenser fan and the compressor. Being intermittent is not helpful but it looks like you will need to catch the part that is failing. When a 20 amp breaker trips it is doing its job to protect the wiring from a fire or other hazards. Does the compressor and fan motor have a run or start capacitor? If yes then mark the wiring and either take it out to test the capacitance or replace. A good OHM meter may have a way to test capacitors. Always discharge the capacitor before testing. Find someone local to test the capacitor for you. Where are you located? JT

What is the voltage and the amperage of the breaker? Have you taken an amp reading of your ice maker and compaired to the electrical data information found on the ice makers dataplate? How many other electrical appliances are running on that same circuit? I will be here to help should you have questions and or respond, Thanks Sea Breeze

Testimonial: "Thank you, John. Currently, It's running okay (for 6 hrs.) using different breaker .... until it trips again. When it's running okay, all amerages are normal. Hard to determine which part is causing it to trip the circuit breaker when it trips. I'll have to measure amperages again on every possible areaa to find out the highest amerage. Thanks again for all the help"

I check the breaker. 120V & 20amp. I tried on another working breaker/outlet and same thing happend. No other electrical appliances are running on that same circuit. I haven't taken an amp reading of my ice maker yet. I need to find out amp reading of my ice maker.Any thought?

Yes you need to have someone check the amperage going to fan motor if your model is cooled by air. Something is causing the compressor or the fan motor to peak over the 8.5 amps your model should use. This could be bad fan, fan windings run capacitor or the windings are breaking down inside the compressor. Either way if a fan motor it would pay to fix as soon as possible. Your model should pull no more than 8.5 amps @ 115 vac but is pulling around 18 or 20 amps and causing the breaker weaken and trip....JT

I could also be the water pump is failing. You will need to see what part of the machine is showing the highest amperage while running and replace that part....JT

Thank You! Circuit breakers can also go bad so the cause also could have been caused by a weak defective circuit breaker. Either way I will be here to help if you have questions.....John Tripp

    Hi John,
Here is the updates on my ice maker.

I tried again with same GFI circuit breaker, and it tripped and unable to reset the circuit breaker
So, I tried another outlet in the kitchen while replacing to new GFI circuit breaker outlet and it ran for several hours this tine until it reset again. Interesting enough, the ice maker is running orally for several days with new GFI circuit breaker (replacing the broken one).

Don't know either the the breaker was the reason or there were a short circuit in the system where it needed some time to dry up...
This whole thing started after we were doing maintenance (vacuum internal area & cleaning up the bin)

Knock on wood, but, now, back to now operation!

John, Thank you for the great support!

This problem is a tricky one because the cause remains hidden, As long as the ice maker has the third leg safety ground and it is a healthy safety ground leg I would not recommend a GFI receptacle unless it was required in your building. GFI circuits are easy to trip and once they begin tripping the GFI receptacle it quickly weakens that outlet. Having a good 20 amp circuit and circuit breaker will be enough as long as nothing else is on that same circuit. Something has got to give eventually should there be a short somewhere within the ice maker.....Thanks John Tripp

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

SOURCE: Unit has cold water dispenser

The filter should go to both your water dispenser and the ice maker. There is a electrical solenoid valve that controls the flow of water to your ice maker and on the inlet side of the valve there is a fine mesh screen that I would check. I doubt that this is your problem but it's one thing to check. Also when you locate thesolenoid you can manually turn icemaker on to actuate the valve. When you do this you should be able to hear a click when the valve opens and shuts. Loosen the nut on the outlet side of the solenoid slightly to make sure you are getting flow thru the valve. If you can't verify that the valve works it will need replaced.
I would check on the inside of the ice bin where water line feeds icemaker to be sure it is not frozen. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Why does my KML-600MAH only make water not ice?

Check to see how long it stays in the freeze cycle. normally it takes a least 20 minutes to make a batch. If less than that, you are probably loosing water causing an early harvest and almost no ice.

Hoshizaki KML-450MAH ice maker wont start after clean up

If you did a cleaning cycle and used the bypass valve to clean between the evap plates, look for the micro switch on the bypass valve to be bad. It is a small switch attached to the by pass and keeps the compressor off during the cleaning process. I'd start there.
