Question about Sony VAIO Notebook

2 Answers

My Sony Vaio Notebook Model PCG-9RFL won't start. The problem began while I was working on the computer. Suddenly there was a momentary cracking sound, and the screen went black. The outlet is on a whole-house surge suppressor, so it's probably not caused by a surge.

I can't say exactly, but it sure sounds like something in the power supply went dead. I'm afraid you are in for buying a new motherboard.

What is the most gigs I can get on my Sony Vaio MODEL PCG-9RFL

For a hard drive, you should be able to put in as big a drive as you can find in 2.5inch IDE format (check out Newegg.com).

For RAM, Sony claims a maximum of 1GB (2x512MB) of DDR RAM: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/specs/PCGK23rev2_mksp.pdf

Need a manual for Sony Vaio model PCG-632L

I have this laptop (the PCG-632L). My laptop shiped with the "Vaio Notebook Quick Start" manual for the "PCG-R505 series". You could seach the Internet for this manual instead of the "PCG-632L" manual. The manual says "quick start," but it goes into slightly more detail than the average "quick start" manual (such as changing RAM).

Hi . is vgn sz430n the same as PCG 6Q1L ?? I

Yes, VGN-SZ430N is similar to the PCG-6Q1L.
The only difference between the two coding is that the first one is the model # of the Computer used by the technical support team or sales support team for providing assistance however, the later is the Hardware configuration code of the Computer that categorizes a few models.

Help me please

PCG-5K7B is a General model # of a VAIO Computer.

To locate the exact Model # of the VAIO Computer:

Option 1:

You can find the model number of the VAIO Notebook on a small label located either on the bezel of the LCD display or on the LCD hinge or at the top left or top right of the keyboard. Try to locate the model number that starts with PCG or VGN continued with alphabets and then with numerical values.

Option 2:

You may also go to START menu and click on 'RUN' option and enter 'msinfo32' to locate the exact Model of your Computer.

Or
Please goto Start Menu, select 'All programs', select 'Accessories' to access 'Run' option.

In RUN command window type 'msinfo32' and press the Enter key to open the System Information window to locate the Model # of the Computer.

NOTE: Your Computer model # may start with VGN-CR and then with numerical values.

After getting the model #, visit this Link to get the drivers for your Computer. Select the Operating System to download the drivers.
