When this goes off is there a loud crack? If so perhaps the B+ supply is increasing increasing the the EHT to the CRT and the crack is the voltage across the spark gap in the crt base jumping to chassis/earth shutting down the TV. Or perhaps just a dusty/dirty eht cap, again EHT discharge, or could be a eht tripler being faulty. Further investigation with the aid of a service manual is required I am afraid.
I have the same problem with the same size 20" RCA tv. Mine is a little over 2years old. After turning itself off and on whenever it felt like it, now it blinks off and on nonstop every few seconds and nothing makes it stop......please help
There is a service menu that controls such things as picture size etc. and that's likely where adjustments have to be made. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to get into it. That information should be here somewhere, search for your tv brand and "service menu".
