Question about GE DCXR463EA Dryer

1 Answer

When the dryer is running it has started to make a clanking noise

It has begun a few weeks ago and it sounds like something on the drum is rubbing because it is a very regular beat, like every revolution of the drum. I can't find my manual, so I am not sure how to get the top off to see inside and try to find out what is wrong....

The top on most dryers are hinged from the back and snaps in, in the front. You may have to use a flat screwdriver and carefully pry up on each front corner to get it to "un-snap". Once the top is lifted, you will have access to the front panel which usually has screws that attach it to the sides. The drum will have a narrow belt on it towards the rear. You will have to "work" the belt off and the drum basically just sits on rollers.

My bosch Nexxt WTMC 3300 dryer makes a squeaking sound when the load is light -- drying a larger/wetter load less likely to make the noise.

I had a similar problem with a different model Bosch dryer. First I made sure the dryer was unplugged. I found, after taking the front and rear panels off, that one of the front wheels that supports the drum was broken. I replaced the wheel and it works fine with no squeaks.

I turn my dryer on after cleaning the filter. out of the sudden i hear like a metal clanking noise, and form then on , it wont start, it makes a sound when i try to turn on, but it doesn't start

you got some loose change or something through the drum. You may have actually gotten something wedged around the rim of the drum . Unplug the dryer , open the door, and inspect around the rim of the drum. Try to turn the drum and see if it is free.

My Maytag Dependable Care dryer, model MDE9206AYW has begun sueaking very loudly when running. The noise sounds like it may be a rubbing-type of a noise, or possibly a belt. I have not tried to take...

Many dryers use rollers or wheels to support the clothes drum. When these rollers are worn, they can be noisy. You should replace the whole set of rollers at the same time. Here is a link to the part in case you need it.

Kenmore Dryer 110 is making a loud squeaking noise.

Only a few things will make that noise. The squeaking is caused by a moving part having trouble turning while rubbing against a fixed part.
  1. The idler pulley is worn
  2. The drum support rollers are hard turning on their shafts
  3. The felt seals at the front or back of the drum is worn allowing metal to metal contact while turning
  4. An article has fallen into the housing around the blower wheel and the wheel is rubbing on it.
Listen for the frequency of the sound. The drum rollers and drum felts will squeak at the frequency of the tub turning. The idler pulley turns much faster as does the blower wheel. Knowing this will help pin down the cause.

Noisy "rubbing" sound...

it may need a good lubrication job. look for all rolling parts metal or plastics and give a good dose of WD-40 and observe. ba particular to the bushing of the drive motor, the roller and the center bearing that hold the drum.
