Question about Philips 190B6CB/27 19" LCD

Main control problem

A box keeps popping up on screen - sometimes says "OSD Main Controls locked" and then "OSD Main Controls Unlocked". I've had this problem before which someone in your organisation helped me to fix but unfortuntely I can't find that message to check to see what we did. That was back mid-January.

Hi  These are the solutions i found check these and try i think your problem will be solved 1.Reset the OSDThe easiest solution to try is to reset the on screen display in the menu. Hold down the Menu button (it is probably marked Ok) for at least a minute. A menu list will appear on your monitor screen. Using the adjust button, press the arrows to enter the menu. Scroll down to the Reset section. On the right side of your screen, you will see an alternating Yes/No choice. When the Yes message flashes, press the Ok button. The menu should be reset and the flashing OSD control message should disappear.
2.Fix the Menu Button
If resetting the OSD doesn’t work, then you probably have a physical problem with your Menu button. Sometimes, particularly on older machines, the connections to the circuit board are dirty or failing. Because you have to actually get into the monitor itself, you will probably void any remaining warranty by attempting this fix. If your monitor is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer to see if there is a local repair shop that can help you.
If you want to tackle this issue yourself, grab a screwdriver and take the plunge. Remove the casing on the monitor itself and locate the contact switch for the menu button on the circuit board. Sometimes, just working it with your fingers or a screwdriver is enough to unstick it - you can try to clean off any dust or grime that has accumulated around it to see if that is the cause.
3.Disconnect the Menu Button
If this doesn’t work, disconnect the button all together. This will definitely solve the problem, but you will no longer have access to your menu options. Given how many times over the lifetime of a monitor you actually access your OSD settings, this may not be such a hardship. You need to weigh the inconvenience of not being able to access the menu with not having that annoying OSD message flashing in your face.

Hi,

Press the Menu button (marked OK) for one minute, or more then a blue/red menu list will appear on the screen.

Then go to the Reset section and reset it. This will resolve the issue.

Please let me know for further clarification.

Thanks
Rylee

To unlock the OSD Controls press the “MENU(OK)” button for more than 10 seconds while there is video input from PC.
If this doesn't work let me know and I can assist you further. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thank you,

hi..If you still come across the problem unscrew the stand,

remove two small philips head screws and manage to free the

case on three sides using a using a pen knife to release the clips

this is enough to bend it out of the way and see a narrow circuit board

containing all the push button switches behind the front panel. This is

easy to remove by unclipping it from the chassis and unplugging the cable.

There was no visible dirt, dust, dead cockroaches or anything like that but

give the switches a good scrub using an old toothbrush dipped in metho

paying particular attention to the suspect menu button.

    check this out..

    it will work out..

    thank u..

It sounds like the buttons are locked and then they get unlocked. You can find your previous solutions and sessions by opening my profile from the top right corner then scroll down to your problems and sessions you can open the sessions by clicking on the name or view session button.

I would suggest to check that no buttons are stuck.

i see you have had two chat sessions, you can view them in your profile. Also I found this solution offered to you

This type of monitor has problems with the switches. The switches behind the push buttons malfunction after two or three year of use.
If the "OSD main control lock" and unlock appear, you have to change the ok push button switch. The switch it self is only 25 cents. However if you never used a soldering gun you should ask an experienced repairman to fix it.
All other problems are related to malfunctioning swithes with the other controls such as volume or brithness. I fixed the problem in 15 minutes and 25 cents

Hi,

Press the Menu button ( marked OK) for one minute, or more, and a blue/red menu list should appear on screen.

Using the adjust button (immediately to the left of the OK button) by pressing the arrows at each end up or down as required you can enter the menu and select an action by scrolling.

At the end of the list of possible adjustments on the left of the screen (brightness, contrast, etc) is the Reset section.

On the righthand side of the screen is a flashing Yes No choice which automatically alternates.

The trick is to select the Reset choice on the left and while selected press the OK button when the Yes alternative on the right of the screen is flashing.

You VDU should then Reset and all will be well.
