Cdr/dvd rom not recogniced by acer aspire 3050

This was a windows vista laptop , converted back to xp, all drivers were applied well and for a short time the cd/dvd was doing well but now it is not showing up on my computer screen, also when a disc is inserted no device driver is found, it is not showing also in device manager.
It runs but will not retreive anithing.

- well thats the issue i cannot find the device driver for this one

wow. I would reinstall cd/dvd driver see if that worked.

Not really much else it could be. Unless our losing the drive.
