Umm well thats wat mine was doing and i called up ps3 austrailia and they said that you can call up a reiper man or send it to us and i got the email and adress of them and they fully replaced it for free but uv got to tell them you got it at christmas because they fked up wen they wer making them around christmas sumpin to do with the hard drive but soz i dunno the ps3 aus number u should ask but i got mine replaced instead of paying a repair man bout 200$ i just replaced it for free =P

Tips for a great answer:
This is the 2nd most common problem
with PS3's. This isn't a bad problem. Your laser/lens will need to be replaced. Do
you see the time clock in the top right corner going around and around? If so,
you are just having laser/lens problems. If you do not see the time icon spinning
when you insert a disc, your PS3's Blu Ray drive controller board has gone bad and
you will need to send it to Sony and not a
3rd party technician. Certain problems are only repairable by Sony. Good luck.
