    Thank you!!!

I have an Amana model # RCC60A2B and I am trying to find a replacement parts list or the proper part numbers for the run capacitor and the outside fan motor. Can anyone help me with this?

The label on the run capacitor is:

    Mars
    55 +5. ouf +-6% 440 VAC 50/60HZ
    40 / 070 / 21 P2SH 0536B 70 C
    3285505H44P37NSX 12292

It has 3 sections on the top for electrical leads and it is about 4 inches tall and round.

Can someone help with the specs for the run capacitor and the fan motor?

  • rbarrett969 Mar 12, 2009

Bought the part(s) at Grainger. Model # 2MEK4 and 2GU40. I still want to replace a few more older parts like the fan motor. Any suggestions for the RCC60A2B Amana?

Open the service panel to check for control voltage of 24volts when tstat calling, The contactor should be pulled in, if contactor is down, and contacts appear to be clean, and the unit is still not running, it is a bad compressor. to test this unplug the black wire from the compressoror at contactor,w/ power off! Turn on power if fan works normally it's a bad compressor. However if you see a swollen split cap(5 wires to a soup can looking w/ the terminal C,F,and Comp), switch it first and start at square one.
You also need to consider the high pressure switch if its cycling on off on off.

I would just get the cap ,unless you know fan is bad, any ac supply house will have replcement parts probly stated as a 1/4 hp reversable 230volt condenser fan motor and the cap jusr 55/5/440-470any thing above the 230v

The outdoor fan is controlled by pressure. If the pressure is too low, it will not come on. This can be as a result of too little refrigerant or low ambient temperature. Another reason is that the fanmotor capacitor is bad. Hope this sorts your problem. ratemeplease.

Sounds like you have a bad run capacitor or bad fan motor

you have a duel capacitor, the 440 means it is a heavey duty cap,

you dont have to match the part number, the 55-5 is the rating for the compressor and fan motor, on the top of the cap is three connections they should be mark as comp one and fan on the other these are the two outside connectors the center is the power

reconnect the replacement the sameway.you can get the capacitor

at any supply house.but make sure the ratings are the same.

At least 3. 1 on the inside unit fan, 1 on the outside unit fan and 1 on the compressor. The outside unit may have both in a single chassis.

Is the furnace fan (indoor fan ) running. If not the problem is with the inside unit. It supplies the control power to operate the entire system and has a control fuse on the circuit board. If it is running but not the outside unit then the problem is outside.

Can I mix brands/tons when installing AC unit to existing coils?

First off - the 'rule of thumb' is 600' per ton of Air Conditioning. In other words your old unit is a 2 ton unit. So - 2 tons x 600' = 1200'. As you can see if you install the 2.5 ton unit - you will be installing a AC that 'could' cool a 1500 sq ft house (2.5 x 600' =1500 sq ft.). Slightly more than what you need; and the 3.5 ton unit is 'way to big,' (3.5 x 600' = 2100 sq ft.).

Note: fyi - many in the AC business will sometimes refer to tonnage in btu's, i.e. 1 ton = 12000 btu - hence a '2 ton unit' can also be referred to as a 24000 btu unit and vice versa.

So... from the above - you can easily see that "2 tons" of Air conditioning is what is required to cool the 'average' home of 1100 sq ft. "roughly speaking."

Note: it is always best to have a professional 'size' your cooling/heating needs.

One of your questions was could you 'mix tonnage?'

The answer is 'usually you don't mix the tonnage of your outside/inside units.' However, professionals sometimes do (mix the tonnage) in certain situations, and installing a 2.5 ton outside unit with an existing 2 ton inside unit is often done, however, there are some 'tech issues' here and - I would "again" recommend that you call a Service Tech to help you with the sizing/mixing of your cooling/heating needs.

hope this has helped

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan stops spinning after 15 mins

Capacitor, dirty condencer coil causing the motor amps to run too high. But most likely worn bearing on blade side of motor causing it to pull to one side causing it to over heat and shut down. Sleve bearings should have no side play.

Fan not turning outside

Is the outside compressor running? Check the fuses in the outside disconnect by the outside condensing unit. Also check the breaker for the A/C in the main power panel.

Air handler only blows air for 3-5 minutes before shut off & not cycling frequently

Sounds like it could be a very weak run capacitor on the blower motor. Run capacitors are sized specifically to the needs of the motor. When a run cap gets weak, the motor trys to compensate for it by drawing more power. More power draw = more heat in the motor, then the motor will overheat and shut off to protect itself. When the motor cools off it will automatically restart and run until it overheats again. Keep in mind that I am a technician that normally diagnoses equipment in a hands on manner. There are many practices and concepts that transcend all air conditioning systems but it is a constantly evolving industry. I live in south eastern WA and I don't see Amana units except as window units. It is possible to have something else causing this problem (faulty thermostat, failing thermal relay(if used), problem with electronic controls(if used)) there are a lot of potential variables
