Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console
DONT ATTEMPT TO REPLACE THE TOP SCREEN ON THE DS LITE. It is easy to replace it on the original ds, But the ds lite requires you to re-soilder the 4 speaker cables into the top screen's video ribbon cable.

My daughters nintendo ds lite had the same problem. I ordered a new screen (+/- € 19) and replaced it. The only thing you need is a special tri wing screw driver and a soldering iron. I agree its tricky but if you are carefull it will go.

Nintendo won't fix it for free, no matter how new it is, they don't fix physical damage. Their warranty only covers internal stuff they caused (not water damage or shorting out either).
You can set up with Nintendo.com to have them fix it, it will cost $75.

You can buy replacement lcd panels on ebay for around 25 bucks and replace it yourself. you need a special tri-wing screw driver to open up the case too. youtube has a video on there showing how to take one apart.
