Question about Nextar MA168 (128 MB) MP3 Player

1 Answer

My MP3 USB is not recognized by my PC,

The Brand is Nextar, Model MA166. It worked well for sometimes and I bought two weeks back. I tried that with all USB slots, but none of them identify the USB cable now. Please provide me a solution,

Mine would not recharge. Then I loaded the drivers from the minidisc that came with it. I didn't think that would be necessary because it was WIN XP. However, this solved the problem. the little MP3 player now recharges and it is a 2 GB device. Since then I loaded the drivers on my computer at work and the one at home. Charges equally well on both.

May be a bad USB cable. Check the connector on the end that plugs into the pc, something inside may be broken preventing the connection. Sometimes the flat plastic piece inside (white or black) breaks loose if you forced it into the usb port or felt resistance when inserting it. If it came with software, you may have to reload it especially if you are using Windows 98.

Cant recognized on XP

If you are using an USB extension or an USB external hub, get rid of it.

Try plugging the MP3 to a different USB port.

Try unplugging AC charger, and removing laptop batter for ten minutes, sometimes this can fix problems caused by accumulation of electrostatic charges on USB controller.

If that does not solve the problem, test a different USB device on the same laptop, and test the MP3 on a different computer. Either one may be faulty.

If the problem is the laptop you may fix it by removing and reinstalling USB root hub on hardware devices in Control Panel.

I have experienced the same problem but not quite as drastic as yours and I just think there may be a problem with the player or compatibility error.
