Question about Olympus Camedia C-740 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera

EasyShare camera lens is extended and will not retract, camera will not stay on either

Hi, I have a Kodak EasyShare Z650 camera. It worked fine and suddenly it shut down for no apparent reasons. Batteries were changed but that didn't help. When put on the on position it makes a strange sound theflash will pop up, the lens stays in the same mode it was in when the problem started, there is a flashing light on the selection wheel and the camera shuts down without the lens retracting. Can someone help me out, please. Don't reallly know what to do to repair it by myself. Sure hope it is repairable.Would really like to finish taking pictures of the baby robins in their nest before they fly away.

Kodak easyshare Z650 lens extends and retracts

I only can think of two reasons. The first, the battery does not have enough power. As a safety precaution it shuts itself down, to avoid damage to the saved pictures. Because if the voltage is to low, it can't write with 100% accuracy.
Second: something is blocking free movement of the lens. This could have a cause inside the lens barrel, and you won't see a thing. It also could be a minute damage on the outside of the lens. Or what sometimes happens while putting the camera on, you touch the lens barrel. I assume you did remove any lens cap attached to the camera.
So if you can't see any damage to the lens barrel, charge the battery and try again.

My Z650 lens will not come out...I thought it was the battery, but after putting in a new one...same can hear the motor trying to's like it's stuck...any suggestions?

I suggest check this article about this problem; lens stuck, is common defective that need new lens unit replacement or just repairable.

Causes of a Lens Error: There are a number of ways with which a lens error can be caused. Particulates might have managed to get into the mechanical bits that allow the lens to retract, a purely physical interference with the lens mechanism. If the camera was dropped, especially while the lens was extended, there's a pretty good chance something might have been knocked loose, such as the guide pins upon which the lens withdraws and retracts.

How to Repair a Lens Error: As scary as a lens error might seem, there are some easy fixes. Before trying any of them out, however, first take a good long look at your camera warranty and maybe have a chat with the company. If the lens error will be covered under the terms of the warranty, go for it. Even some of the simple fixes mentioned below might void the camera warranty. Frankly, however, it's unlikely that a lens error will qualify for the warranty.

Hi, My Kodak EasyShare C613 intermittently starts up ok, but other times the lens extends and the viewfinder stays on the initial screen. (The Kodak EasyShare system 'share') After around 40 seconds...

My camera is stuck on the screen that says "lens error" and then has four different numbers in a row. The camera lens is fully extended and will not shut off...any suggestions of what the problem could be?

I have a kodak easyshare z650 and i cannot format an 8gb sd card,

The Z650 is designed to work with SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. While an SDHC card will fit into an SD slot, it will not work properly. You'll have to stay with SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Camera won't stay on

I may be able to help with your Kodak EasyShare Z740 that turns itself off.

It may be a 'lens extending' problem, or it might be fixed with a combination of button presses to reset it while turning it on.

Try these steps to fix your camera.

I hope that helps.
