Re: bluray disc doesn't work in my computer vaiovgc-lt25e
The reason for this is that Bluray is a different file type than DVD. That means that a DVD player can only handle certain file types of which Bluray is not one of them. The drive you are using is a DVD drive.
Unfortunately the only way to play a Bluray disc is with a Bluray drive. These can be purchased at any computer or electronics store and are becoming quite competitive in price. That or you can return the movie and buy a DVD or CD version of the disk.

I like many people have bought a Bluray movie for my BRDVD Bluray player to have it not work. It is unfortunate part of Bluray and near every player has or will have some disc that will not play until a later update is made.
I noticed that it is really hard to find list that tell you what Bluray movies have problems as well as what those problems are. I will have a short list and will try to keep it updated whenever I get a report that a Bluray is having problems. Please report any problems by sending me a email at Tthekraut@yahoo.com or sending me a message in the comments here.
Inglorious Bastards-Disc will skip back and not play movie through the main screen. No fix is confirmed.
Couples Retreat- Main movie will not play. No fix is confirmed.
An Education(BBC video)-Movie skips back to main screen and will not play main video. No fix is confirmed
Alvin and the chipmunks-Main movie will not play. No is confirmed at this time.
"9"(Nine)- Main movie will not play. No fix confirmed
Twilight- Canada only- Movie would not play. Please contact the company located on the disk sleeve. It was a glitch that many player could not overcome so it would go back to main menu.
Percy Jackson-said to skip and at times not play at all.
Kick ***- Movie will not play and just gives an error on start up.
Please contact me with any info on fixes and problems. I will make several other lists for other players. I bought Inglorious Bastards and all I have is a $25 coaster now. I would like to keep this updated to help others not do the same. I will post any and all problems people are having with differant disk and any possible solutions.
Every blu ray or dvd player sold in the world comes as standard unlocked to play any disc from any region. On the fifth play of a disc the DVD or Bluray will become locked to that region. So if you play 5 USA dvd's on the player after the fifth disc has been played only US dvd's will be recognised by the player, Same applies to BLUrays. So if i were you i would be careful about what discs you are putting in the player. Otherwise you will be left with a bluray player that cannot be used in Australia. After that happens the only way to play other region discs would be to get the player unlocked. Another point to add , a blueray player has two lasers one to play bluray and another to play DVD's. Lasers can fail so you could be able to play DVD's but not Bluray or vice versa depending on which laser has failed.
are the blueray discs the only ones that cant be burnt?? Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs
Click on Start, Run, and typeregedit and press Enter Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor Reboot your computer Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.or you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark? ! or a red x right click you will need to update the driveror select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver hope this helps you
Hi tomblasio BluRay is the latest video technology on the market and has nothing to do with NTSC DVD HQ . First came VHS , followed by VCD ( video cd ) and later DVD ( digital video disc ) . NTSC is the standard manufacturer's technology in use mainly in the States and Japan . Europe generally uses PAL system . Bluray discs produce superior image quality and offer 5x more stockage capacity than the dvd discs . They are also the far more expensive than other products . DVD and BluRay are NOT compatible . Best regards , fanaudi .
As newer bluray movies come out they are constantly tweeking the format. More then likely you need to update your bluray players firmware or software. There should be an option under the menu for the bluray player to update the unit of course this will require that you have it hooked into the internet via ethernet cable or wifi network.
See if a DVD works. For me, I know my Bluray is ruined because I can watch DVDs and play PS2 games fine but anything Bluray does not work. If a DVD does not work, you have more of a problem, if DVD does work you need a new BlueRay which Sony should take care of for you. If you don't have receipt, etc. like me you can buy a new Bluray (KES-400AAA) on Ebay and use this guide to install it http://edpsystemssupport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=45.
Hope that helps.
