Ice maker works but no water coming out

I have a Hotpoint side by side refridg. w/ a filter. The water with fill up in the filter and the motor sounds when I activate the water dispenser. But still, no water. I saw where some are using a hair dryer to thaw out the water line. I don't know where the frozen section would be if that is my problem. Can anyone help?

If the water tank is frozen, i would raise the temp on the fridge for a while but, Im sensing an issue with the water valve assembly. may be stuck in the closed position.

Water over flows in ice try and freezes in the bottem of the and not letting the ice tray empty

Look for a lever or a control that will let you control the size of the ice cube. Work it back and forth a couple of times and then set it at the opposite farthest position from where it originally was.. Clear out all the old ice .... Use warm water to melt the old ice or a towel soaked in hot water to help you get it all out. Then start over as just turning on the ice maker. Close the door and Listen for the sound of the motor running and then for a different sound which should be the ice tray filling up with water. Wait a few seconds and the sound should stop. Usually about 10 seconds. Then open up and look at the tray to see if it is filled with water and if it has stopped filling.. Use your finger if you have to, to feel how much water is in the tray. If this dosent work than there is a timer built into the ice maker that is malfunctioning. The Ice maker must be removed and either replaced or maybe take it to an appliance store that sells parts for refridges. Sometime you can find a guy there who knows a little bit about them and might be able to check out the timer.. Most of them are easy to remove. Usually two screws along the top of the unit. Maybe one screw along the bottom. Then you lift the unit upwards and pull away from the wall it was on. Then there will be a electrical plug to also unplug from the refridge. Then you should just be able to remove the unit.

Our Hotpoint side by side refridgerator, the ice/water not workin

It sounds like you have a failing relay/valve that wont stay open when current is passed through them, check there first otherwise your control board could have water/heat damage remove inspect and if necessary replace let me know how it goes :)

Ice maker is not making ice...no water to tray, but.ice maker motor works

there may be a sensor in the bin where the ice cubes drop into. It tells the ice maker when the bin is full so it stops making ice. Check to see if that sensor got bumped or moved or needs to be reset

Ice maker does not work on my Hotpoint sise by side. the water dispenser works, i've replaced the filter, the green light is on, but nothing happens with the icemaker, no running water sound, no ice

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

Ice maker not working

The icemakers won't make ice if the temperature is not below a certain set point. Varies between manufacturers. Try making the temp colder.

Ice maker not making ice

The fill tube could be frozen. Gently use a hairdryer. If not you have to check the fill valve coil in the back to see if it's getting power. If it is replace the valve. if not check wiring connections etc. If there's no power out of the Im to the valve, replace the IM
Problems with water are most common tho. Please rate this
